Smile Does anyone play my game?

You know the one... you list something on eBid and then sell it somewhere else so you have to come back and delete the listing!

What do you have to do to get a sale on eBid these days? It does not matter how you publicise the site, no one has heard of it and as one person who bought off me elsewhere said "Oh yes, I was on eBid. I gave up - nothing ever sells on there"

This market place should be fantastic but, looking at the numbers, the listings for sale just keep reducing.

Is eBid in its death throws??

Perhaps I am just being pessimistic but when my last sale was in May 2016 what else am I to think??

To all you brilliant people out in eBid land who do sell, what is your secret?????

I await your great suggestions in anticipation!!!!!

    Be happy !!!

We sell one-of-a-kind items, so I wouldn't dare list anything in two places. With my luck, I'd sell it on both sites on the same day . . . disaster!

I see you basically sell only music CDs, and I don't know what the online market is like for them. I do know eBid works for us.

I would have thought that CDs would sell well if they are competitive. As the selling costs on Ebid are lower you can undercut what you would charge on Ebay, and with a Google search, people should find your lower priced items.

I list a large number of items, as it costs me nothing to do that on Ebid, and that is how I get my sales.

Your postage varies from £1 to £1.35 but as all CD's will post at the same price why the variance?

    Hi Gill,

Thanks for your comment. The price variation is because singles weigh less than albums and so have two different postage rates (although I must admit that some have been on so long that they may have slipped through the last time that Royal Mail increased their postage rates).

    I will soldier on!!

    Best wishes for many sales!!

That sounds logical, so I looked at Nibor's listings here, picked the first one (Buster) at £3.85. Then I put that title into ebay as if I were a potential buyer. Six hits. Wildly varying prices, two of which are cheaper.

So why would I buy from a more expensive seller on a site I've never heard of? That's how buyers' brains work. Why wouldn't you expect them to work that way, Nibor?

    Hi Bill,

Thanks for responding to my post - really appreciated.

I try to make my listings very competitive and make allowance for the lower eBid selling costs so that it undercuts what you would pay on other e-commerce sites. Sadly, it does not seem to be working. I know that people still buy their music on CD (I have sales on other sites to prove it) but sadly they do buy it through eBid!

Oh well, I will soldier on!

Best wishes to you for many sales

Thanks for your comments John - really appreciated. It certainly seems to have sparked some debate.

I fully understand what you are saying re: cheaper prices. And I think that you have hit the nail on the head "why would I buy from a more expensive seller on a site I've never heard of?" No one seems to have heard of eBid, let alone use it. It really is such a shame as it is a fabulous place full of really helpful people!

I will just press on in the hope that things improve at some stage.

Thank you again for your observations - I will just need to compare my prices on a more regular basis perhaps.

    Best wishes for many sales
