Let us know how you get on. Possible Paypal have moved the option recently.

    Thx,

I've found it now and have turned it off. Would never have considered changing this setting, so many thanks to all. Hopefully it's now sorted!

Make sure you turn off encrypted payments in your PayPal setttings.

    Thx,
    Gazza
Is it a good thing to turn off 'encrypted payments'? On the face of it it sounds like something that would be undesirable.

For example, if Barclays suddenly told me "Stop using https, we've decided to use http for banking" I'd be, like, WHOA!

I do realise this is not an https vs http issue, but is to do with the code associated with the payment button.

As eBid do not send any sensitive information (credit card details, names, addresses, etc.) to PayPal but only refer the user to the PayPal site then there would be no need for encryption. The user will already have a PayPal account, or create a new one, on referral by eBid. Security of personal information is then down to PayPal.

Merchants that do send personal/sensitive data, such as an e-commerce website, would need to use encrypted PayPal buttons.
