i too have had live listing where a potential buyer asked a question and i replied to say i would measure the item but then had no way to get back to them with my extended answer

We are talking about questions on live listings Gazza. Once you have answered a potential buyer there seems no way to go back in and add more to the answer if it is needed.

If you do what ebid suggested it takes at least a few hours and can cause a buyer to move on. Thankfully I had a patient buyer and they have now bought 7 listings. I just wonder how many sales are lost because of things like this that could be much simpler.

This was on a listing while it was live but it has sold now. Sorry I didn't answer sooner but I got impatient and gave up looking here for an answer!

when someone asks a question and you respond they cannot ask a follow up question but must ask a new question

likewise as in this example once you have responded to a question you don't have the opportunity to respond again with perhaps further information from the the q&a dropdown menu however what you can do is find the original email click on the link and then it will let you respond for a second, third, etc time but that is done by having to find the email not from within the ebid website
