Thread: YDC Rule Review Part I

  1. #1

Default YDC Rule Review Part I

It's been more than five years since the YDC rules have been revised. I've done a bit of reformatting so they are easier to follow, but perhaps now it is time to take a look and ensure they are still what we want.

There are those of you that have much more YDC experience than me, so I hope you will share your wisdom.

Our current list of rules does seem a bit unwieldy … does anyone (besides me) actually read the entire list? Is it possible that less is more, i.e. less rules perhaps more participants … just a thought.

In any event, let us begin with:
    Rule #3 from Part One:
Your items must be listed on eBid.net and must comply with all eBid's listing rules.

Do we actually need to state this as a rule, since:
    1. Where else would someone list an eBid YDC item?
    2. With the listing of each item on eBid you are agreeing that your listing will comply with the listing rules ...

    What am I missing here?

I humbly submit my petition and will abide by the decision of the majority.

P.S. In the event of a tie, no change will be made.

just my humble opinion here ,your point 1 it is possible say a over enthusiastic YDCer lister could promote the listing , and or list on another site, that could cause complications, plus it s also possible for the same reasons above that some one could list what is normally not allowed under listing rules because its for charity, ie knives , eletronic media in a intangible form , ect ect, however unlikely its still a possibility, and could bring the YDC and ebid in to disrepute.

I partly agree with what Sid said above, so my suggestion would be

    Rule #3 from Part One:
Your items must be listed only on eBid.net.

The second part is redundant as when you submit your listing you are given the warning about following the listing rules.

Hurry, I agree that this rule seems a bit daft.
I think that emphasing that you are either in or out of the competition element is of more importance.
It would make it so much easier for you personally to announce the winner of each months YDC if the seller had added the correct wording - either this is a competition entry or it isn't.

Added to say whoever voted for
I don't care what the rules are. I do whatever I want .....grrrr!
Now I wonder who that could be

I think that rule is outdated and can go. I think all sellers know by now that listings have to comply with site rules and eBid would take action if rules are broken.
