Our daffs have budded, and on one of the miniatures I planted several years ago (from a potted gift plant), the yellow is really showing. Should bloom in a couple days. Here in the higher elevation of S Wales (we are about 800 ft or so), shummers are noticably cooler and shorter, winters cooler and longer, and thus, the growing season shorter. In Monmouth (downhill 5 miles) things are blooming quite nicely.
(Still trying to figure out what squished ants smell like.....)

OMG Madelaine - hope they survive for you?
Here we go with a late bloomer & just starting to go over - so thought I'd better get a pic up before it's too late.
This is a species native to Brazil - Cattleya forbesii - the scent is a strong sweet rose type (to me)
Second time in flower for me.
Beautiful!
Lovely Orchids!
Mine indoors have been flowering all winter. One plant has been flowering solidly for years now, but I think it will not have another spike before the current one is over

Hardy little things, aren't they? I haven't checked on mine.
