OLD - love the little blossoms on the wax plant and from what you describe, I'd like to stick my nose in!! The flowers look thick like the leaves - are they or is it just that the edges seem to roll back a little? My mom had a variegated wax plant in the dining room and I loved the feel of the leaves - hers never flowered.
If you ever do smell the Dendrobium delacourii, you can pass on describing it - I'll take their word for it - lol!!!
HEY, MADELINE Nice to see you here!
BILL - your little orange tree is beautiful - is it a "hardy" variety that will survive the cold or are they in pots because you have to bring them inside for winter?? I've yet to find any citrus that will survive in my growing zone but if I ever get my greenhouse built (it's way down on the list!) I'm for sure going to grow some miniature citrus trees.

Hi Shesa, yes the leaves & flowers are thick & rather heavy - also have that waxy look & feel. You'd think they were hand carved.
The plant sends out long tendrils that wrap around whatever they contact for support (without being parasitic) & will climb to the top of host trees.
Mine is being trained around a wire frame to keep it under control "hopefully" & is developing several more peduncles (flower stalks) ATM. & should look when they're all open. Had another sniff of the Dendrob & can't smell a thing - probably for the better!
PS. Hoyas need light to bloom, so your Moms most likely, wasn't getting enough indoors? The variegated leaf types look fab in any event.
Old - that is awesome that the flowers are waxy as the leaves - want to touch them! LOL!!! Mom had her plant in the window so it got plenty of light and grew up the plant hanger like crazy. Maybe the problem was that everybody liked it and she kept pinching off starts to give away?
Yes, maybe better to stop sniffing at the Dendrob!!
G'day all - well here are the latest orchid pix for ya.
First one is a plant I featured back at post #209 i.e. Dendrobium delacourii White. It wasn't fully open then, but now it is just starting to go past its prime, so thought I'd get in a quick pic before she fades altogether.
2nd. is a first flowering for me & ATM there is only one bloom of 3 that is open - but you'll get the idea. No scent that I can detect ATM.
It's an Indian native species with terete (pencil shaped) leaves - Vanda teres Andersoneae Hope you like them!
They are just beautiful
They are beautiful!!! The second one reminded me of a vintage brooch I have somewhere...... LOL!!
I have to ask - did you ever stick your nose in the Dendrobium??? LOL!!!
Glad ya'll like them
No scent to report Shesa - good or bad
OK people - here's my first orchid in flower for 2017
This is also a first time bloomer for me, from this young plant.
Neofinetia falcata - native to China, Korea & Japan - It has a strong scent of coconut essence, morning & night.
This leads me to presume that its pollinator is most likely a night flying moth, not unlike some other orchids. eg. Angraecum
For an idea of its size - that's a 2" dia. pot. I'm very happy with 7 blooms for a first flowering!
