    Default Sold Items Problems

Why are so many sold items missing from the archives?

Why is there no way to download a full sales history - rather than having to trawl back through invoices month by month, year by year? Totally tedious and unnecessary.

My eBid Dashboard > Sold records are kept for 75 days, the same as closed listings, and can be exported at any time during this time for your records. This has been the case for many years now, we don't have any current discussion open on possible ways to improve on this.

As always we are open to any suggestions you might have. Let us know.

    Thanks,

Well I consider this one 'current' as it was never responded to: http://www.ebid.net/forums/showthrea...ory&highlight=

I think I have raised it more than once before without a reply.

Any reply to why so many sold item listings are not archived?

Let us know the specifics and we can take a look for you. We archive listings 75 days after the close. Archives are kept for a minimum of 3 years for you to access if you need to go back to previous listings you have run. The only thing we don't keep is the photos which are removed after 6 months if they are no longer being used.

Give it a bump and we'll take a look at it. It's from Jan 2011.

    I know. Disheartening, isn't it?

I wasn't aware that archived listings were ever deleted. Seems to rather defeat the object of having archives if they vanish at some arbitrary date. I'll have a look later if my missing ones are of such an age (too much hassle at present while using a tablet).

As Paypal allow returns up to 180 days, do you think it would be a good idea if sold items were kept open for at least this long before archiving?

Not deleted, we have the data, we are just restricted by space on our servers. The millions upon millions of listings take up so much space we have to place a limit on how much archive we can place onto our live database servers.

    Re: archives...

I note that forum messages are kept going back to 2003; surely sales transaction records are more important than old forum posts - and would likely consume less storage space.

Also, as sales records would fall under the category of 'business records' the normal retention period for such would be a minimum of 6 years. You may counter that that is the seller's responsibility, but I would have thought eBid had a business responsibility to keep records of transactions carried out through their venue for a similar period also.
