Fireworks

My two German Shepherds are totally at ease with fireworks, as also loud noises like guns going off. They are composed and accept loud noises and bangs without battering a doggie eyelid. There is a lot of shooting going on around here, both for sport (rifle range, clay pigeon shooting etc.) hunting, and also pest control.

I do appreciate the fact that other animals are greatly afraid of fireworks, and it really upsets them. I would think that it would be a courtesy to your neighbours to mention that if you were going to let off fireworks in your garden, so that any pets could be safely placed indoors and comforted, like playing beautiful classical relaxing music for example. (Sounds daft, but it's true - it works!).

We used to have fireworks and a bonfire in our garden when the children were all at home, they were magical times, and I wouldn't like to think that those days could be lost to other parents with little ones.
Although, having said this - I would think that judging by the price of fireworks nowadays it would be cheaper for everyone to go to an organised firework display, and speaking from experience, less cleaning up the next day for mum!

I usually find my garden littered with small plastic tubes after bonfire night. I assume they come from those starburst type rockets people around me have fired off.

A real pain when they get caught in the lawnmower.
