    Default For YDC'ers (Sellers)

    .

I wanted to put YDC Country links to the Flags in my Plug thread but when I did I was surprised to see how little exposure our efforts are getting Overseas so I took the links off. Not a true reflection of what we and the spirit of the YDC is about and it upset me because the YDC potential Community is actually quite huge.

It would be fabulous to have eBidders (as Sellers, Bidders and Buyers) from all corners of the eBid Universe and shipping Overseas isn't that difficult.... some Countries need a CN22 (a tiny, simple form for Customs from the PO) and the Post Office leaflets are easy to follow re the weights & costs involved.

We've got potential eBid YDC friends all over the place ~ please can we encourage them and make them feel welcome to join us by including them in our Offerings?

I wonder what it would take to get more people involved? Maybe eBid could offer a small prize each month to the top YDC seller, like a cap or a tote or maybe some parcel tape? Just a thought...

Best wishes for many sales to all,

Sue, that's a great question. I don't know about getting eBid involved and I'm sure people with more experience than me will come along and offer up advice on this.

Cheaver's point about current YDC listings being offered to as many countries as possible is a place to start to gain more global exposure. I would be interested to hear from those that don't ship internationally about their hesitation.

The continued posting of YDC on social sites will also help exposure. And of course, we all can send notices to our past buyers inviting them to participate in YDC.

Really just thinking out loud ... will look forward to what others have to say on this.

I always offer international shipping on YDCs, as it allows more people to participate and bid on items. I think maybe some don't due to high and rising postage costs, especially international shipping costs, which are unfortunately a big PITA.

Definitely need to tweet more YDC stuff as we get closer to the day. Maybe we could all tweet (at least those on Twitter).

Best wishes for many sales to all,

Every time I list an item for Overseas I am shocked at the postage cost ~ and it makes it so much worse because my Post Office (and others from what I've heard) can never make its mind up as to what constitutes a large letter or a small parcel. I list on the basis that if I have overcharged I can refund: if under I take the hit.

It would be great to offer free shipping globally but it's a no-goer for me ~ BUT that doesn't mean the exposure should be sacrificed because of it to my mind.

If folk around the world are Charitably minded (most if not all should understand the shipping costs) then if they want to support/participate they can - at least they would have the choice.

If we don't list overseas we are not seen (truly invisible) - end of - and that to me is not only sad but a huge waste of potential.....

BTW if anyone is contemplating shipping overseas and hasn't done it before.... Europe does not require a Customs form. (CN22). The US, for example, is one of the Countries where it is needed - fill in the simple boxes on the CN22 then peel the backing off & place top left of packet/parcel - then put your name & address underneath the CN22.
Then address to whom it is going to in the normal way. Simples!

If you are unsure about the CN22 the PO will not only supply them but also help you to fill it in & correctly place it.

Just had a little look around the eBid Universe for YDC current listings:

    UK 77

    DENMARK 53
    AUSTRALIA 51
Quite a few Countries showing 50 or 51
    9 remaining Countries vary from 34 - 49

That's not bad. Are the numbers items listed for YDC or items able to be purchased? I'm thinking it's the latter, but as I'm not quite up to full caffeinated status I wasn't sure.

The numbers are for the Charity Auctions offered, Sue. (not the Internet, eg templates)

    Gotcha, thanks.

Just tweeted a generic tweet for all YDC items, will tweet more specific listings as we get closer to the 24th.

Best wishes for many sales to all,
