Default A Note to eBid Andy

"We would suggest listing under Topographical"

I think we can safely say that the seller who requested a Lighthouse sub-cat under postcards can work that one out - she's highly professional.

Could you just say no rather than producing such a patronising reply?

It didn't read as patronising to me. A suggestion was made and the reasoning behind that suggestion given.

While I'm not into postcards, lighthouses would seem rather a small category within the postcard genre and probably not worth a category of its own.

Your response seems more patronising than Andy's reply.

Both Feebay and the Belgian site appear to agree with this.

OK, so you don't agree with me, Astral or MPS. Obviously I did feel that the reply was patronising. I wasn't really talking about whether eBid should have a lighthouse section, just about the way it was turned down.

Your way to turn a request down was just to respond 'No'. I would find that rudely brusque. I would much prefer the suggestion and reason. Each to their own (I suppose?).

Maybe Andy is not as familiar with the requestors' professionalism as you and thought he was being helpful to a user.

The usual way is to ignore it! Most of my requests have been treated that way (and I'm not really complaining - they can't do everything).

Actually your last comment chimes with how I feel eBid treats us - as if none of us knows anything!

I feel the response was also contradictory.

    I mean eBid Andy says
This would be consistant with other auction sites.
However, we still don't have a main top level category here for pets, like other sites do.

    Thanks for the comment/support Madelaine.

Yes, well, if Andy had read my request properly then he would have known that I did list my Lighthouses as suggested.

But more dissappointing is that the reason that the request has fallen is because the 'other' sites don't do have a Lighthouse category.

Bit weak really, considering that eBid aims to be different if not better that the 'other' sites... oh, well!

Lighthouses is a highly collected Postcard theme. Same as Cats, Dogs. Aviation, Railway Stations, Churches and so on... if you go to Postcard Fair, most respectable dealers have a category for Lighthouses.

    Never mind, eh?

As I suspected, you have a Lighthouse section in your shop one20.
