Question How do you choose what item(s) to list for YDC?

Just wondering how others choose their items for listing on YDC.
I'm always on the lookout in charity shops for useful or quirky items at around 50p that can be posted via Large Letter, preferably light weight items under 100grams so I can list as free posting and it'll only cost me 73p.
That way I get to support 2 charities, there's always the exception though, such as the £20.00 note tea towel that I couldn't resist buying in December for January's YDC. I also have some angel dust that I couldn't resist buying, I'm saving that for another month.

I usually come across things when i'm out and about. Sometimes I go looking for a particular item to tie in with the theme.

Ooh, angel dust, better not try it or you might be floating in a yellow sub, LOL!

For me it's mostly combing through my stuff that hasn't been listed yet and finding things I think someone besides me might like. I do have a look around when I go out as well, especially when I visit the Christmas Tree Shop, as they have so many nice things that the average person can afford, (I never leave that store empty handed).

Best wishes for many sales to all,

No it's not a sweet, not a craft item either, nor will it give you a legal high...it's magical, mysterious angel dust, who knows what it does, that's the secret element of it.

I won't keep you in suspenders for long, I'll list it for February's YDC what ever that charity happens to be.

This YDC I have tried to find a couple of items which might have international appeal in the hopes of offering our overseas YDC'ers something they might never have tasted, for example. Then I think of things folk might "crave" for but find hard to get as well as things which might be useful.
Underneath it all I am looking for items which will hopefully bring in the dosh ('cos folk will either want/need/use them) which is the ultimate goal whilst at the same time not expecting folk to part with money for any old just anything because it is for Charity.

Working in Tesco has it's advantages I keep a shoebox of suitable small items I've brought back from holidays or that I find on shopping trips - or for E.A.C.H. I dig through my mother's stuff that I haven't listed yet.

Picked up quite a few items recently when the powers-that-be at the store had a stock clearance of discontinued items in return for donations to the staff Social Club. Will be listing one or two of these for YDC130.
