    Your following points were valid. I have always assumed though that eBid's owners want the site to flourish. To that end they would have looked at what advertising they felt to be effective and affordable - and would continue to do so. I'm sure they would love to be as financially secure as eBay and flood the advertising market; maybe if they fleeced their users as eBay do then they would be.

    eBid has survived in a market where many others have tried and fallen by the wayside - so they must be doing something right.

    I didn't suggest that they did. I just expressed a wish, that's all.

    It could be left until secondary - firstly, it could be taught much faster to older children and secondly, they can't open an account until they are 18

    Somebody should stand for Parliament as an eBid candidate.

    Lots of free publicity, and David Cameron would visit you several times (possible downside).

    Not quite free - there is the deposit which such candidates lose but it would be excellent value for money!

    We could have a whip-round on the site. Wouldn't cost much each.

    The really clever trick would be to dream up some irresistible policies. It wouldn't matter that they were impossible to implement as the candidate would never have the opportunity to do so.

    Contributions, please, on policies that would;
    a) guarantee a vote
    b) be sure to get in the newspapers.

    My suggestion: Errant bankers will be paraded through the streets, to give voters the opportunity to express their views, before being locked up for a very long time.

    I can eat a bacon butty without looking like a total part. Do I get the job?
