    Default YDC 126 Announcement Thread - Joining Jack 24th - 28th October 2014

Well, it's that time again folks!

    YDC 126 Begins on 24th October 2014!

As the winner of YDC 125,

    countryfeedback87

    has chosen

    Joining Jack

    as this month's nominated charity.

Everyone is welcome to join in and list for this fabulous good cause

YDC (Your Donation Counts) is the monthly round of charity auctions on eBid.net.
YDC has two aspects, the general fund-raising for good causes, and the competitive aspect where those who choose to can compete to win the right to select the next month's nominated charity.
The rules, therefore, also have two parts: the first part applies to all auctions which are to be part of YDC; the second part applies ONLY to those auctions which are to be considered part of the competition,
If joining in with the YDC monthly charity auctions you MUST follow the rules in part one. If you would like to be in with a chance of winning the competition, you are REQUIRED to also follow the rules in part two. If you do not wish to choose, you can ignore part 2, though you may find it still contains some useful ideas that are convenient to follow.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Part one: Rules for All.
    1. Auctions must run from the 24th to the 28th of the month.
    2. Auctions must be listed in the Your Donation Counts sub-category of the Charity Auctions category.
    3. Your items must be listed on eBid.net and must comply with all eBid's listing rules.
    4. Your auction(s) must be for a charity or good cause.
    5. YDC nnn (the number of the current YDC) must be included in the auction title.
You can list as many items as you wish. You do not have to support the nominated charity, you are free to choose any cause you wish. If you would like to support the nominated charity, that's great. Please try to offer your auctions to as many international destinations as possible, for maximum YDC visibility.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Part two: Rules for the competition.
    1. Auctions should have a start price of 99p or less. (or local equivalent.) The website xe.com is a good place to check currency exchanges.
    2. No item should have an expected value of more than £20.00 (or local equivalent). Higher value items are still welcome in YDC but should not be considered competition entries.
    3. No reserve or Buy Now price should be used, nor should any listing enhancements such as Featured.
    4. Please make sure your end time on the 28th matches your start time on the 24th, so that your auction only runs for exactly four days - no extending from very early on the 24th to late on the 28th, please.
    5. YDC nnn (the number of the current YDC) must be included in the title, preferably as shown with a space between the letters and the numbers.
    6. Naturally, your items must be listed on eBid.net and must comply with all eBid's listing rules.
    7. Your auction(s) must be for a charity or good cause and the description of your item must include the following text:
This auction is an entry in the YDC nn charity auction competition. All money raised by this auction will go to: charity.
    8. Please do not charge more than cost price for shipping / postage.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Any questions? Please just ask!
And finally, a big thank you to Gothicina for our YDC logos
    - these are free for everyone to use: http://www.gothicina.co.uk/ydcteddies.html

This may be the wrong place to bring this up but...
I know most sellers do not charge any postage but I can not always afford to do this so I usually charge a nominal sum if it will be a small package and not just a letter, but I have noticed in the last few YDC's that some sellers seem to be charging much more than the item should cost to post. As an example an item that should be able to go as a Large Letter but £2.80 or more being charged.
I am too scared to pm the sellers and ask but i wondered what the actual policy on postage is?

Yes, this has been a pet peeve of mine too Penni. As far as my understanding goes there is a request
    - see No 8. " Please do not charge more than cost price for shipping / postage."

On a lighter note ~ Frosty has arrived for the YDC ~ Joining Jack ~ and he has promised not to melt.

I have previously questioned a YDC seller about postage cost for 2 pin badges via ask seller a question, the seller apologised, said it was an error and lowered the postage cost, though even lower it was still more than postage cost. I won the pin badges and only paid amount on invoice, had the seller been more honest with postage cost I would have topped up.

Honest, reliable seller looking for honest, reliable buyers.

Like you Penni, I am on a pension and cannot afford to stand the postage costs, If I make a mistake on the postage I will ask if they want a refund or added as a top up.

Penni, I hear ya, as I'm currently unemployed my funds are also limited and there are items I'd bid on except I can't afford the postage. I offer free postage myself as I feel it allows more members to participate in the fun of YDC.

    Happy almost YDC,
