Thread: How Can I Help???

  1. #1

    Default How Can I Help???

I had added this question to someone's previous listing but I might miss the response! I am kind of new here but I manage to keep track if I make my own listings here on Ebid, so please be a little patient with me.

    Here is my original questions...

Hello fellow Ebid charity members! I found about these charities from a fellow Ebid member and I am interested in listing, at least one item for the animal charities and I would like to know all of the details about listing this item since I really know nothing about these type of auctions. I would like to know...

How easy it is to list for U.S. & international?
How much shipping should I charge?

??? I really don't know what all I really should ask??? I watch Animal Planet quite frequently on tv and I feel for any animals that need help! I don't have much but since Ebid has charity foundations here, I would like to participate. Your help in helping me to get this listing going will be appreciated...I need all of the help that you can give me, thanks!!

    YDC Charity Auctions

Hi MillerCyberMall, You would be very welcome to join us in the next YDC. They run every month on eBid from the 24th - 28th. You can list to support the main nominated charity (this will be announced soon from whoever won this months YDC) or you can list for your own favourite charity. Here are the rules.

YDC (Your Donation Counts) is the monthly round of charity auctions on eBid.net.
YDC has two aspects, the general fund-raising for good causes, and the competitive aspect where those who choose to can compete to win the right to select the next month's nominated charity.
The rules, therefore, also have two parts: the first part applies to all auctions which are to be part of YDC; the second part applies ONLY to those auctions which are to be considered part of the competition,
If joining in with the YDC monthly charity auctions you MUST follow the rules in part one. If you would like to be in with a chance of winning the competition, you are REQUIRED to also follow the rules in part two. If you do not wish to choose, you can ignore part 2, though you may find it still contains some useful ideas that are convenient to follow.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Part one: Rules for All.
    1. Auctions must run from the 24th to the 28th of the month.
    2. Auctions must be listed in the Your Donation Counts sub-category of the Charity Auctions category.
    3. Your items must be listed on eBid.net and must comply with all eBid's listing rules.
    4. Your auction(s) must be for a charity or good cause.
    5. YDC nnn (the number of the current YDC) must be included in the auction title.
You can list as many items as you wish. You do not have to support the nominated charity, you are free to choose any cause you wish. If you would like to support the nominated charity, that's great. Please try to offer your auctions to as many international destinations as possible, for maximum YDC visibility.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Part two: Rules for the competition.
    1. Auctions should have a start price of 99p or less. (or local equivalent.) The website xe.com is a good place to check currency exchanges.
    2. No item should have an expected value of more than £20.00 (or local equivalent). Higher value items are still welcome in YDC but should not be considered competition entries.
    3. No reserve or Buy Now price should be used, nor should any listing enhancements such as Featured.
    4. Please make sure your end time on the 28th matches your start time on the 24th, so that your auction only runs for exactly four days - no extending from very early on the 24th to late on the 28th, please.
    5. YDC nnn (the number of the current YDC) must be included in the title, preferably as shown with a space between the letters and the numbers.
    6. Naturally, your items must be listed on eBid.net and must comply with all eBid's listing rules.
    7. Your auction(s) must be for a charity or good cause and the description of your item must include the following text:
This auction is an entry in the YDC nn charity auction competition. All money raised by this auction will go to: charity.
    8. Please do not charge more than cost price for shipping / postage.

Vonz always does a reminder thread on the 20th of each month to jog our addled memories that YDC will be starting soon and to get listing.

The shipping you charge is up to you. Some people give free shipping others charge the minimal amount. It's always good to list some items that don't weigh very much as a lot of the bidders in the YDC are from the U.K. and would prefer their money to go to the charity rather than have to pay high international shipping costs. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help guys!! I have marked this information on my calendar and set an alarm on my phone to remind me to start early on the 24th of September. I will try to do it on my own but if I run into any problems, I will surely come back here and ask for further assistance from you guys. You all have always been a great help to me !!

You can list before the 24th as long as your listing has a start time on the 24th. Unusual and quirky does well and I believe that when the YDC started there was supposed to be a comic element to your title.
I would also add that it is great fun. Trying to nick ticks (steal bids) at the last few hours is often a challenge. You can advertise your YDC items in the YDC pimp thread. Unlike other items you can pimp in that thread more than once a day.
I hope you do join in and have as much fun as I do

Well...I stuck my foot out in the waters! I did set an auction for charity up to start on September 24th...WHEW!!! I WILL be back for questions if necessary. I think I might have a few other things but I will see how things go first.

Could someone check this listing and see if I have everything accurate, here is the link>> http://us.ebid.net/for-sale/2002-has...-131504697.htm

Oh it's so great that you are going to join us in YDC 125. Just checked out your listing. Here are a couple of thoughts, so people can find it.
    1) add YDC 125 or YDC125 to the title
    2) list in the YDC (Your Donation Counts) subcategory of the charity category.

LOL it's not my night for eBid...first I had no Source button, that's now sorted thanks to Sherlock, and I had 3 listings in YDC and they've mysteriously disappeared...2 was because they were reposts from previous YDCs and I wasn't sure how long they would be available to repost.

No worries though, I'll find out what's happened to them tomorrow, busy with other things at the moment, though I should really be thinking about going to bed, but that's just too boring...
