Once again, a thread which started by being about eBid has degenerated into a thread about Ebay.

This made me choke with laughter....what you describe happens here ....too often.

My Ebid shop of over 1200 items is now bigger than my shop over on the dark side, the transformation is taking shape nicely. Many more items coming here soon. Easier, friendly, cheaper and much more relaxed. Only another 6000 to 7000 items to list

Best wishes for many sales to all,
It is interesting that you say this. I used to sell there, but I never posted to the forums. I do not think I ever visited the forums. Only used workshops, etc. My sales levels were ok, but I got turned off with the ever rising fees, and how they treated sellers. I left because I saw the writing on the wall of things to come, and it is far worse now.

I think people are more inclined nowadays to use a search engine, rather than going straight to a specific site.

People will use a search engine in the event that the product that they're looking for isn't available or isn't available at the price that they're prepared to pay or wait for on their first choice selling/buying platform.
In the main there are two major selling platforms and people will generally search these in the first instance. Usually, it with these two that they'll make their planned purchase.

The last buyer I "polled" as to how they found my auction told me it was through a google search. Another recent buyer found what was purchased through a social media post that my son had made on a group page. I didn't ask my most recent buyer how they came about my auction but now I think I will go do that and find out.

I myself search google first then weed through the results from there. I will also com here to ebid since that is where I sell I would prefer to give my business here if I can find what I want. But I never go to the other places and only search there. Google will give me many choices and I can refine my search by price or whatever if I want to.

I've recently treated myself to a new smart phone (Nokia Lumia 520) I wanted a leather case to keep it in, first place I searched was here, on eBid, none available
Then I went to TOS, most I looked at the sellers had loads of neg feedback
Last place I looked was Amazon, found what I wanted there, a simple (pink) leather case to protect my phone.

When I want to buy something I try eBid first, but most of the time what I want is not available here, we need more sellers with different items so that doesn't happen so often to lots of potential buyers.

Honest, reliable seller looking for honest, reliable buyers.

I have just bought a set of bike pedals. Found them on eBid but did not get any replies from the seller until I had paid. If it had been an expensive item I might not have paid and the sale could have gone elsewhere.

    Hi all,

Been a member for 3+ years but never have done a test-drive here. However, trying to get my eggs out of eBay's basket so I look forward to being on eBid

I think that as eBay judges more and more sellers "defective" with the August 20th change, there will be many more refugees coming over!
