Thanks. Yes, I did take the plunge (ebidcompstore). May take me a bit to get acclimated. We'll see how things play out. I'm reviewing the tips and best practices blog from eBid:

Also, I am reviewing some other threads here:

If you have a facebook pintrest & twitter act. take a look at this, http://pagemage.com/products/social-beacon
It was made for the darkside, the river & etsy, it wont pull in your listings from eBid because they don't have an API but you can manually input the url to your eBid item & it will post to all 3 of the social sites at once or can be scheduled to post. It saves you from having to log in to 3 different social sites & post 3 separate messages.
It also tracks how many clicks are from each site & how many likes, pins & tweets it gets.

Now if eBid would just release their API but until then we just have to manually input the URL

Fair enough, there is something of the performer in me, even exhibitionist. I am happy on the stage performing. In some of my many lives I have been a priest, a mime artist, and now a professor. The avatar under a waterfall in Mexico is exhibitionist humour.

The thing I don't like doing is promoting and sales pitch.

June 1964 my Grammar School in Belper sent me off on a course for 1 week at Derby Technical College to learn about programming computers, it was Fortran. I didn't get to see and touch an actual computer for another 5 years, and that was Kimberley Clark's pre-transistor main-frame computer in Larkfield Kent, in a huge building mainly filled with refridgeration for the valves.

Meanwhile in summer 1967 however, in a building in central London, I did have a job filing and interpreting punch cards used for feeding information into a mainframe I never saw.

    Hi Bill

So you really have been into computers from the days when they were bigger than houses. :-)

As I said our first home computer was a commodore Vic 20, I would spend hours typing in lines of programming just to see a stick man waving his arms on the screen, stuff that kids today wouldn't waste a minute on.

..and you don't need a sales pitch for twitter, you just click on the tweet button on your listings and your followers will see it, then maybe click on a listing for one of your followers and if you like what you see retweet it. It gives you a feel good that you are helping your friends to promote their items, and besides, it's not all about items for sales.. go on, try it, I dare you..

    All the best

    Anne

I had a job using Hollerith punched cards to allocate shoe stock to retailers in the early 1960s (61 or 62 can't remember exactly). Cards were used to print picking lists for the warehouse and for producing invoices when shoes had been despatched.

I am thoroughly impressed with the effects of social media. For example, I recently posted a tweet for one of my new hard drives. The total views doubled in less than a half hour! Let's see if any of those views turn into sales.

So, after five days on Twitter, I set up two accounts and have 35 followers between the accounts. I have sent out almost 250 tweets and my store views have increased exponentially. That being said...still no sales. As I mentioned in another thread, it's a bit disconcerting doing all this work for no reward when I could blink and sale an average of an item a day on the other eSite.

I say all of this to ask two questions...(1) has anyone seen an uptick in sales from advertising on Twitter and (2) does anyone actually sell on a consistent basis on eBid?
