    Love her diary!
It is amazing what you can get away with when you are cute and petite!

Glad you are enjoying her diary ... more entries are on the way.

I walked and I walked and I walked some more. It's a good thing I walk with my head held high or might have missed the sign near the ceiling and would still be walking.

Then I waited and I waited and I waited in the taxi queue. Finally it was my turn. There was a moment when I thought I was back in the UK. It seems that taxis and taxi drivers look the same around the world.

Raj was quite a character. He lives in Richmond Hill, Queens. It is also known as "Little Punjab". He made jokes about the fact that "Little Punjab" is so much smaller than Punjab, but has a population density that is so much greater. Guess that means there are places in New York that are more crowded than India. He is not originally from Punjab. He was born in a small town south of there, but I didn't catch the name. He chatted amicably while we sat and sat and sat.

We took the fork to the left. The New York parkways are for the most part equivalent to expressways found throughout the US, except for a few oddities. The one that I notice immediately is that there are no trucks on the parkway. Good thing … there was barely enough room for the cars. Raj told me this was an intentional design to use low, decorative stone-arch overpasses that would trap trucks. Actually, he said buses. But that's another story and we have arrived at our destination.

    .

Oh my goodness what an exciting time she is having.... a lot for a little lady to learn all at once.
She obviously wasn't bored sitting in the taxi all that way. From glorious sunshine to snow & ice ~ a mammoth journey. I hope she remembered to take lots of jumpers, a hot water bottle and some warm slippers. Was she able to make herself a hot toddy when she arrived to warm herself? (and recover from the taxi fare?). It looks a lovely place to visit though it has to be said.

Without traffic (which doesn't happen very often) the drive from JFK can be made in less than 45 minutes. Much can happen weather wise in that amount of time. She arrived in between winter snow storms ... we had more than we usually do this winter.

Hot toddy and hot soup was ready upon her arrival. No hot water bottle, but 2 cats that love to cuddle kept her warm and toasty.

We get some icicles every year. At one point, this year the icicles reached from the upper roof all the way to the lower roof. They can be quite beautiful and quite dangerous.

Oh yes, the list of things to see and do is quite long. She has been into the city (I will let her tell you about it) and hope to get out to the wine country before she has to move on.
