Thread: Some ideas for ebid - No 1 - Change the name

  1. #91

Default Re: Some ideas for ebid - No 1 - Change the name

I have not read this whole thread---only a couple of pages. So my opinion is probably been stated before. eBid has 14 or so years of using this name. Changing it would only lose the name recognition that they have built up in that time. There are several other auction sites in the same category as eBid and they have the same problem with recognition.

What would be needed to give eBid better visibility would take many millions of dollars or pounds to be able to compete with feebay. When I paid me fees this month it is obvious that huge sums of money are not being deposited in the bank.

You have to make a choice. Either take the site for the good that it does or go elsewhere where they will do things your way.

I've just seen the changes in #51 after reading another thread.

Mark - In reference to #51 that you changed, albeit slightly. You maybe on the eBid management team BUT I suggest that you do not change a post in anyway whatsoever without making the poster aware of your changes!

If eBid management want members to be happy marketing this site and replying to ridiculous threads like this one, then it's about time management started posting to threads where members have true concerns. If you want members' to support eBid, then start supporting members' that believe in eBid.

The ball is in your court eBid management. You either believe in eBid members or you change the name to supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.com etc.etc.etc.

Quite agree, and something I have raised before. I stated then that I would rather a post of mine be deleted than my name be left on a post that was no longer what I wrote.

Wonder if this thread will last longer than the eBid name?

Well editing a post or deleting one post is much better than deleting the whole thread.

But it would be good if they said what line was edited and why, so that we all know for the future.

Editing a post is completely unacceptable. This changes a person's opinion to suit eBid's own; which they have no right to do.

If any of mine were edited, I would delete them myself.

I totally agree with knitwits. eBid might edit a post and make it libellous (I'm sure they wouldn't do it intentionally) but I have legal liability for things I say on the internet.

Gill, please state the change(s) that were made.

Were the changes to remove something you wrote that was libellous? If not, it's outrageous.

The change made by Mark was a deletion of a question/reply and nothing libellous or outrageous was written by either myself or Julie.

The fact is, the original was changed.

I have the answer John but I need to check this out so will delay in completing my reply until tomorrow.

Okay, I couldn't go to bed without checking first.

The question/reply that was deleted is:

"Most of the ebid youtube videos look old and out of date".
    Don't look at so I won't comment.

I've just had a very quick look at youtube but I couldn't see any reason that the question/reply was deleted other than that they are seldom looked at.

I disagree they look old as the latest logo's are used.

I'm off to bed. Good night all.

PS - This is like Area 51 - strange goings on LOL!
