Only 19 days until the start of YDC 118 to benefit:

Here is just one of the stories of the students impacted:

    Brittany W. from West Babylon
    From Brittany’s application narrative:

“As you are aware, Hurricane Sandy affected an innumerable amount of people throughout the East Coast and rapidly became a problematic situation for thousands of people. When Hurricane Sandy hit it caused many negative financial issues for my immediate family and we are currently still recuperating. Because of Hurricane Sandy my mother’s house was ruined; immediately causing instability within our household. Hurricane Sandy caused both my mother and myself to be separated for a very long duration of time, living in temporary housing. Finding another house was very hard to do and financially was unpleasant due to the fact that housing is very expensive.

Hurricane Sandy has made my living conditions very inadequate due to the fact that my mother, a single parent of two, ended up losing her part-time job after the storm. The financial burden this storm has generated is insane. My mother and I are still replacing valuable household items that were lost and or damaged during the storm that FEMA did not reimburse. Although Hurricane Sandy has made my living conditions somewhat awful, I still remain a full-time student at Suffolk County Community College with a cumulative average of a 3.7. Maintaining my school grades all while dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy has not been the easiest. However I enjoy attending school and am looking forward to graduating soon. Thank you for creating such an opportunity for the students who have suffered from Hurricane Sandy.”

Thank you to all those that have already listed items.

I apologise for meebo1's strange spelling. It's the fault of the German keyboard that has keys in wrong places- I expect I'll get used to it and then have problems when I am back home and Google insists on capital letters when I don't want them
