Here is another story of one of the student impacted:

Tawana L.

Tawana is a student at the Grant campus. She has six courses left to take to complete her degree. She comes across with the disposition of a marathon runner approaching the finish line. During Hurricane Sandy, Tawana took her children to her mother’s house upstate where she felt they would be safe, and being evacuated from her home, she stayed in a hotel here on Long Island because she did not want to miss class at SCCC. “I need this [degree] for my kids.”
