And the stamps from my childhood collection may have cost me pocket money back then, but I've long since written off that... I'd give them away now if it weren't for the thought that I might make a bit of cash from them which is always welcome.
Actually, if I'm understanding correctly, I meant the same thing as you've expressed here.

For me, when I'm talking profit, I don't include the original cost of the item. Most everything I'm listing is something that we bought or had given to us (or belonged to our parents) and that we don't need anymore. So, I don't see the original cost as coming into it. Like you, I don't want to pay out of pocket and I like to make a little spending money for my trouble.

    Sale price + shipping
less the fees and the shipping costs
= what I consider to be my 'profit' on the sale.

I keep a spreadsheet of the figures so I know where I'm at. If I buy some type of stationery item that I need for shipping then the outlay comes off my 'profit'.

Also, I wanted to say that it never occurred to me that the 53 written in pencil on the back was a clue.

Ha! Thanks to those who pointed that out to me.

Sometimes I astonish myself with my own intelligence.

    :-)

I can't tell whether it is the 1861 or 1876 issue.

Because it is so old I might list it, but at a low tempting price because of the missing corner.

    Thanks Bill.

That first one has the missing corner, but the second no torn corners. Both are cut a little crooked though. :-)

Some of these really old stamps are hard to categorize. I'll take my best guess and call it good.

I'm really enjoying this stamping activity. Too bad my dear old Dad isn't still around. He spent the last 15 years of his life cataloguing his stamps.
