It's generally accepted that Scotland gets £1200 more than the UK average in government spending per person. However, it's also accepted that Scotland also contributes £1700 more than the UK average, per person, in tax receipts. So, for every £100 we receive, we pay back £142. To put that in perspective, if we borrowed £100 from Wonga, we'd pay back £137.

As for hating the English, where does this feeling come from? I certainly don't, and I couldn't honestly think of anyone who I know that does. It almost sounds like a "Daily Mail" theory to me.

As for English independence... Maybe London independence would be a much better option. Then everybody else would be on a more level playing field.

I really don't care, as I can't see it affecting me personally whichever is chosen. All I hope is that whatever the outcome that that is the end of it. No possibility of restoring the union if it doesn't work out, and no demands for a referendum every few years if the result is to maintain the union.

Also, given independence, can we repatriate all those Scots that bang on about how great Scotland is but don't want to live there?

Yes, I think all Scots-born people will have to be re-patriated - they will be foreigners and outside the EU, so they will have to be regarded just the same as any other non-EU citizens. That appears to be what they want, so we should let them have it.

You can't blame them for banging on about how wonderful Scotland is but not wanting to live there; it's freezing cold, and never stops raining.

As a matter of interest, does anyone know if Scottish-born people who are living elsewhere will get a vote?

I think the biggest drawback for them will be that they will no longer have the English, and specifically the Tory party, to blame for all their ills.

We don't know what they want yet. The vocal minority are making all the noise.

    Who gets the vote...
    • British citizens resident in Scotland.
    • Commonwealth citizens resident in Scotland who have leave to remain in the UK or do not require such leave.
    • Citizens of the Republic of Ireland and other EU countries resident in Scotland.
    • Members of the House of Lords resident in Scotland.
    • Service personnel serving in the UK or overseas with the armed forces who are registered to vote in Scotland.
    • Crown personnel serving outside the UK with HM Government who are registered to vote in Scotland.

I think you'll find that it's a minority who blame the English for their ills, unfortunately it's a vocal one. Similar to the, I hope, minority in England who think that all Scots should be expelled in the event of a Yes vote.
