Scottish Independence... What are your thoughts?

Keeping the pound and joining the EU could be mutually exclusive anyway. There are many things that the UK has negotiated as part of their membership that are abhorrent to the other EU members. If they could revoke them they would. So why would the EU give those same concessions to a new member state?

The rebate, gained by Margaret Thatcher, is particularly hated by other EU member states. They have to pay towards it. Scotland could well end up paying part of the UK rebate as an EU member.

All that suggests is that the independance lobby want to have their cake and eat it.

Since Ladbrokes are mainly in the business of making as much money as possible. What it mainly suggests to me is that maybe they think it's much more likely than lots of people are trying to make out.

And as I said earlier, having your cake and eating it is exactly what the UK Government attempts to do in Europe, so why shouldn't the Independence lobby do the same? In the event of a "Yes" vote it will be up to the negotiators to take that cake away.

Scotland can not have independance and a currency union.

They are mutually exclusive as stated by the Reuters article link I posted earlier.

Well I hope it is a yes vote. As what follows will be interesting to watch whichever way Scotland's future unfolds.

I just maintain my previous caveats, that the split from the union is total and that there is no way back if it turns out to be a big mistake.
