In our town ... we have a local group on Facebook where we list larger items to sell or give away. We have garage / yard sales and we have a local charity that we donate to. It's a volunteer driven thrift shop that supports our local hospital. The thrift shop generates large amounts of profit annually and does wonderful things for our town.
Locals support the hospital in many ways, by donating money, goods, and time and by buying things there to help them move the large volumes of stock that are donated.
This is how we deal with larger items, depending on what they are. Also, many electronic items are recycled at the local recycling station as obsolete electronics really aren't that sought after.
I can't imagine the postage costs on the items that you mention. Only the big international companies of the world have the ability to ship new stock for free or less shipping $. For an eBid seller to list something like this, it would have to be something rare that a buyer would be willing to pay shipping on.
So, speaking from the viewpoint of a Canadian seller, I try to find items to list that are not available in local shops and that will fit in an envelope that is less than 2cm thick. And if the item is not paper then we pay more to Canada Post, even if it only weighs a few grams.

Purplestevie, I apologize for responding to that off topic post and taking the thread even more off topic.

180 items sold - quite a few new buyers to eBid which shows good growth.
My extremely basic conversion rate in January works out to: for every 3.53 unique visitors = 1 item sold. Taking out people who would be unable to purchase the rate would go well under 3.
