I've collected the e-mail addresses for my old eBay customers, and want to do a mail out to tell them how wonderful eBid is.
I understand that I can earn buddy points, if they join through my link.
I have a buddy number, and have read up on the format for dong it.

Can someone who knows about these things please confirm that the link embedded in the e-mail needs to be:


http://uk.ebid.net/buddy/(my number).

I can see the instructions for doing it within a listing, but I want to do it in a document that I will then e-mail.
Do I need to do anything about the "jump-to" link?

Please be careful not to send too many out at once and make sure your previous customers know the email is coming from you and not eBid. I say this as one member in the past got their account suspended for a while as there were complaints to eBid.
Also some email companies start to block you if spam is reported.

Be prepared for "some" negative reactions, as some don't like receiving spam.
Many moons ago, I did as you're suggesting & about 2% of my previous clients let me know that they weren't happy & were not interested in changing camps!
Still, it's worth doing IMO. (only once, or you're asking for trouble)
