eBid on Toy Story ABC Halloween Special

I was wondering whether Pixar were aware and happy with all this... not concerned but I was wondering.

That's exactly what I asked in the post that was deleted, whether it was purely unintentional or if they intended a nod towards eBid but didn't wish to mirror the site's appearance in the animation. It would be great to find out (though I suspect it was more likely the former).

Accident or ploy. This thread has 4200 views, listing has/had (6 hours ago) 3300 views. Bids are 99.9% forum regulars.

Pretty sure this situation could/should be huge! Who's in charge of this?

Not even much done in-house. Nothing on the front pages, no mail shot to eBid members. The listing doesn't even appear on the Popular Auctions tab (you have to click on 'More' to find it).

We're due a newsletter, so hopefully there will be something in there - at the least.

The most effective thing seems to have been the PR Web release - which does appear to have landed on a fair few sites.

There has been interest/exposure outside of this thread. But the bottom line of the listing is to attract bids from more than forum regulars. Sort of resembles a glorified YDC event.

Had mentioned going into a local Disney Store and speaking with several managers about the possibility of local involvement. These are managers, I would think they would be somewhat knowledgeable about the company's major events. Well, they were not.

I also noticed that Disney Pixar took great care to get a trademark in place next to "eBid".......The #2 Auction Site". Thus protecting their interest in the name/logo/slogan, that apparently did not have TM protections in place. It's similar to the issue of the "eBid.com" domain name.

But as long as it is generating publicity and exposure for eBid (and it is), they should just continue on for the maximum exposure benefit.

Every time this edition of Toy Story airs will gain exposure for eBid. It might be that people will see it and do nothing about it. But maybe when they are looking for something in the future they will see an eBid listing on Google and recognise the name. It would be great if it brought an instant jump in buyers and sellers but if that does not happen then we will have to take whatever we can from this.
