    Default Is facebook worthwhile?

I keep reading references to linking with Facebook, Pinterest, etc.

I'm not really a Facebook sort, and as for wittering on Twitter - the idea leaves me underwhelmed.

But in the interests of generating buyers, I'll try anything once.

Does anyone have any experience of doing this?

My products tend to appeal to people who actually do something, so I'm not sure that people who have the time to sit on computers all day would be interested.

    What do you think?

I'm with you; I don't get the attraction of those sort of sites either.

I agree as well, I have a facebook account but rarely use it. As far as Twitter & Pintrest goes, I dont even know how to use them lol.

Yes, I use these sites, except twitter which is mostly used by people with smartphones which I don't have. Unfortunately hardly any sellers on here are using the numerous ebid pages on facebook and only a handful are using Pinterest which is incredibly popular. Most people I know are on facebook...not sitting on it all day, but logging on in the evening to catch up with friends , shop and see what's new in current trends and retail. Most businesses now have a facebook page and boards on Pinterest. I think it is definitely in your interest to get involved, it requires very little time and effort and could reap rewards :-)

I tried to have a go at facebook.
For the life of me I cannot work out if what I was writing was actually visible to anyone else? So I stopped?
    I still don't know?

Pinterest is easy to use just pin an item you have for sale and wait for a potential buyer

I have had several sales off the back of pinning my items on pinterest.

When i list an item i pin it and also at the same time tick the facebook/twitter box but i dont tend to log onto facebook or twitter very often. My main purpose for using them is to get my items out there.

If i want to get in touch with friends i email them

Pinterest was DESIGNED to show people want you like.

Therefore it makes sense that it is good for sellers to have items on there.

The problem is that Pinterest is SO POPULAR that it has millions of items so they ar ehard to get seen.

The trick is to get other people to pin your pins.
And I have nor found out how to do that yet.

I am not really one to bother with these social networking sites, but I have been using them to get my items out there, and also for my travel business. People say they are useful so I am going along with that, although I really haven't got time to sit interacting with them for long. Having said that, sometimes a photo or article on these sites will catch my eye and you can spend huge amounts of time getting sidetracked. I see it as the modern way to advertise for free, so I involve myself even though social networking doesn't naturally appeal to me.

After twittering a listing within 1-2 hours I see a huge increase in views. Pinterest? Somewhat. Facebook? Not-so-much.

Online advertising is very expensive and hit and miss (and becoming less effective due to mobiles)
So any way of getting your stuff out there for free eg Pinterest or Twitter or Wanelo must be good.
