eBay's numbers have risen, but in % terms in that 4 years eBid's will be higher. And if you removed repeat listings on eBay and if you could also take out the fakes as well the number would come down further. As long as eBid can continue to increase the listings at a steady pace we will get to a number that gives the buyer the choice they require. I would like to see eBid over 10 million, though the more the better. But what is more important is the quality of those listings. We do not need listings for listings sake. They should be listed correctly (keywords), priced to be competitive and the sellers should be responding and providing the required service. When we can do that eBid will attract the buyers and get the repeat business.

Good post that I fully agree with.
I wonder if the continuous free listings that have little hope of being found due to the manipulation of the best match search could have something to do with the higher number of listings over there?
With the other site promoting the big retailers & outlets the smaller guys listings that are pushed to the bottom of the searches must be just helping to keep the listing count up.

Can you provide any information on listings that ebay own?

    quoted from cerealmunkee

"i have no doubt they'd be interested in coming here when the die hards have put the work in and built the site up, but they have no intention of expending their own efforts."

I have been told this by many people that sell on ebay when I try to get them to list here on ebid. It is just like you said, they do not want to put any of the work into it and all tell me "maybe I'll go over there when it gets more popular" I for one am proud to be here before it gets real big then I can say I was there way back when It's also a much nicer environment here. That in itself keeps me here rather than anywhere else.

I see nothing wrong with newcomers paying more.

But the ebid lifetime fee must put lots of people off joining.
I'd like to see a higher fvf.
