I was one of them. Keep in mind when someone comes to the forums and complains about lack of sales they still have the ebay experience in mind. They do not know anything else. No need to think outside the box when all you have to do there is list. Oh and service your customers.

A welcome letter would immediately inform them they will not succeed if they follow the same way of listing they have become accustomed to. If the new folks decide not to thoroughly read the welcome letter and take it's advice (knowing it's from eBid itself) then there is not a whole heck of a lot anybody can do about it but at least everyone knows they were given the information.

Posts such as "I listed 10 items and have not sold a thing for 2 weeks" is already answered in the welcome letter as well as here in the forums. Complaint posts can go on and on but pretty much all the same. Just boils down to where they came from and what they are used to. Pointing out eBid is unique and different along with informing them how to succeed might just squelch the complaints.

You're preaching to the converted - I have suggested the same on several occasions. I have never gotten admin to take any notice though (mind you...that goes for most of my suggestions).

Sorry about that. I never noticed but then again I have only been here since 2010. I'm just going to keep bumping this every time I see the complaint threads on the theory that the squeaky wheel gets the oil.

May be now that ebid has a new programmer Gazza may have a bit more time to do other things.

They are probably very busy working on the mobile apps and the api

.....Why not just have a standard letter which goes out to anyone signing up? Advice is pretty much the same and appears to have been for many years. At least this way anybody signing up to eBid receives all helpful advice immediately.

I truly believe it wouldn't be a major task to put together. It would take a little time and energy but it would have to be better than forum users repeating the same info over and over again. And what about the folks who join and don't log into the forums? They are missing out on the ins and outs of eBid.

An excellent idea. However in your posts & "bumps" perhaps you could come up with a draft letter so that management can copy it rather than having to sort it out for themselves. As has been pointed out they are extremely busy.

I wouldn't be qualified to come up with that letter.

First of all get a commitment or reply from Gazza that they would do it.

Then I am sure one of us can come up with a suitable letter.

One thing I know is that no management like being told what to do, it has to be done subtly.

    as an aside

I got a standard email from them last week telling me how to buy and sell on ebid. (great!)
But it looked like a graphic from the 1990's.

And was totally out of touch with current thinking.
