    Default Packaging plates

I am moving house and have to get rid of my dresser. I have a collection of Susie cooper and Clarice Cliff plates and collectable china. What is the best way to package them for sale please.

I take it you mean packaging for posting ?

I always use at least three sheets of bubble wrap one small bubble sheet and two large bubble sheets. I go by the rule that if you can still feel the item through the bubbles then it isn't safe.

Always use a cardboard box for posting pottery. It might sound obvious but I have had people over on the bay send me china in a jiffy bag before now and then wonder why it arrived in pieces !

Pack around the inside of the box with scrunched up newspaper or packing chips so the item cannot move. This is really important as any movement might result in cracks especially if you are packing several things together.

    Hope this helps.

As long as they are packed properly then they should be fine. I've only ever had one pottery item break in all the years I've been selling (touch wood !) and I've posted delicate porcelain items all over the world.

Pizza boxes would be O.K. I would think, as long as there is enough room to take the bubble wrap too, I've never used them myself.

When I worked as a storeman shipping delicate minerals & crystals etc. around the world, to be extra safe on those items, we double boxed them.
    1. well wrapped & boxed.
    2. in a larger box surrounded by packing chips/bubble wrap etc.
Never had any issues with those.
Yes it's more expensive - but they arrived in one piece.

I have always double boxed fragile items.

Check the postal service /courier service you use covers plates, I seem to remember royalmail standard parcels dont cover glass/ceramics but I cant confirm this on royalmail site, the info seems very hard to find :-(

I did notice they wont pay out of the box is not marked "FRAGILE HANDLE WITH CARE" and they say to wrap fragile items in 50mm layer min of bubble wrap.

You beat me to that suggestion, Mel! Pizza boxes make for great packing of flat items of all kinds!
