    Good idea,
There is just so much to do!

If you are logged in forever then just a visit to My eBid will reset the counter.

If you aren't logged in then click My eBid and login, this will reset the counter.

After 60 days of inactivity items are automatically "closed". i.e. they are moved to My eBid > Auctions I Ran.

Items in Auctions I Ran stay for 75 days before being archived.

Hope this explains it a bit better.

    Thx,
    Gazza

It explains, but it doesn't alter my view that the whole class is being kept in after school, instead of picking out the naughty children.

The problem you're trying to solve is the dump and run sellers. But instead of identifying them, you're clobbering responsible sellers at the same time.

Do you not agree that, as a result of the useful feature of emailing a seller when there's a purchase or question, all that's needed is for a seller to check their email, rather than actually logging in on the offchance there's some action needed?

If the system sent an email "you have not logged in for 55 days, 5 more days and auctions will be closed" I would find this all much more acceptable.

And I see a big difference between someone who has been on ebid for 9+ years, posting more than 1,000 posts in the forums, and some fly-by-night dump-and-run flake who turns up here, posts a bunch of auctions and then vanishes. This policy is too coarse-grained and borders on friendly fire. It's insulting to those of us who take our responsibilities seriously.

They have already stated that is what will happen:

NEW - Email warning sent out 7 days before items are auto-closed due to seller inactivity on site.
As for 'the many suffering for the actions of the few', that happens in all walks of life. If you have managed to get this far in life without experiencing it then you have been very fortunate.

    Me too.
You can never please all the people all the time.
I think these changes that have been implemented here have been well thought out and much needed.
I would say the majority of us here welcome this and appreciate it.

Sorry, I promise to try to pay more attention. Not always easy for me, sitting at the back of the class.

Indeed it does happen. But when experiencing it one should be proactive and try to solve the problem, not just sit back and take it.

Wow, I was logged in forever and visited 2-3 times a week in My EBid and still got shut down and all my comic book listings gone. Never got a email from Ebid (and yes I checked my spam Folder). Any way to get my listings back???

If your listing start dates were older than 365 days then they would have been shut down at the time of the mass clean up. In the future, eBid will automatically relist auction listings older than 365 days so they will receive a new start date.

Contact support@ebid.net and ask them to relist the items for you.
