Thumbs up Inactive accounts - now with email warnings

    Site Update Notifications
NEW - Email warning sent out 7 days before items are auto-closed due to seller inactivity on site.
UPDATE - Items auto-closed with no account activity timing reduced to 60 days (originally 150 days)

This will make such a difference to the eBid site!

Great. Ideally it will make sellers take more notice of their auctions, if not then they've gotta go.

This is really a good idea. If a seller has just been careless, they get a last chance.

Good idea, but will it affect those who have a holiday notice set and are away from home for (x) amount of days?

Not many people can afford a 60 day holiday.

How is account activity defined? I do swing by the forums from time to time, but I very rarely log in to the main site. Does that make me a bad seller???

I don't think it makes me a bad seller. I'm not running a business, I just sell a few items in hopes of keeping stuff out of landfill... sometimes one person's rubbish can be another's delight. If I make a sale I get informed by email. I check my email several times a day and I respond promptly, I consider myself a good and reliable seller.

So why should my auctions be closed, even if I don't visit for hundreds of days?

I suppose it will mean that you have to log into My ebid" so just positing in the forums will not count.
The email warning will be great.
It is not only good manners, but it will wake some people up.

(lets hope the listings number keeps above 6 million)

We've been gradually reducing it over the last couple of months so as to not overload the system with a huge number of closures and are now down to 60 which was our target.

Just swinging into the forums on occasion will not define you as an active "seller". The forum is a separate entity from the eBid site. There has been a very long-standing problem with dump-n-run sellers, and this will help "clear the air" in a manner of speaking.

Can anyone imagine what the REAL numbers of #bay listings would be if this were enacted plus elimination of duplicate listings....YEEEEOW!!!
