Thread: Keywords??? help from some techie people please

Don't forget that relevant keywords in the item description, especially at the beginning, are just as important as relevant keywords in the title, for instance for your 2000 AD comics only a few mention Judge Dredd in the title, & I haven't seen him mentioned in any of the descriptions, yet I'm sure they are the kind of keywords that many casual buyers would use.

As your store is split into categories why not change the first category to countdown, for a month, & leave the rest as RUS.
Then in a months time, change the 1st category back to RUS & change the next category to countdown, etc, etc. that way the content would appear fresh & you would increase visibility on the site,
Stagger the start & end times, & it might be an idea to let the items on countdown actually end, you could then repost with new auction numbers, which should prompt google to reindex them.

    Yes and no.....

Yes.. as a priority sort out the spelling and keywords such as the titles of comics and some of your old date format. That is the most important part, by doing that you have far more active keywords. Remember the double keywords you can use ie: Nov and November. By using both you are covering both likely keyword searches for the month of the year. Also as I mentioned above - for a comic only use the ISBN and leave the brand blank.

By the way - the other sellers of comics have pretty dire visibility on google shopping.

And no..... That wouldn't be a fair test on RUS and 10 day listings - the 10 day listing may get the initial site hit and then they have a look through your shop and end up buying a RUS comic. So whilst you may assume because the RUS sold that RUS sells more, yet without the 10 day listing providing the 'hook' then the RUS would have remained invisible.

Whilst I am a big fan of RUS - there is no reason at all to use it unless you have a certain variety of listing which would swamp and over power your other listings.

I always recommend that sellers should list at least a 1/4 of their items as 'live' listings if they have over 1,000 items in store.

Sellers with around 500 to 1.000 I would recommend listing at least 1/3 of their items as 'live'.

Sellers with less than 500 items for sale, I would recommend they use just the 'live' listing option.

This thread has given me a lot to think about. I'm afraid I've just overlooked many of this information when adding listings. I have everything as run til sold, but now am going to look at changing that - at least some in each store.

Most of my items are very small in price, now wondering if I go back and add ISBN numbers as it sounds like to show up in google I should add them...am I thinking correctly?

I have so much to learn, thank you to those of you who are so willing to share your knowledge and experience. Sometimes I get frustrated at how little I know and how much I have yet to learn about the technical side of listing. I've spent years listing and letting things happen, but it sounds like I've been missing so many opportunities with creating more visibility and more sales....

as of last nights check on google I now have 435 items listed on there search for my shop so most of yesterdays adding bar codes and brands has done some good

I didn't think about that with the auto list pulling people in and the buying a RUS hmmm
I like your idea jew when I had a shop on greedbay i used to do that list some stock as RUS and the listed about 1/4 as auctions seam to work well there before got the rug pull out from under me.
gothicina I was thinking about trying that as a test but not sure now.

Unless like dean says you are likely to swamp your store with one type of product there is not really much need to use RUS. If you list for 10 days with 10 auto reposts it is 110 days before you will need to relist them again, and with luck they will sell in that time so you may not need to relist or at least not all of them.

If you are changing from RUS you might be better doing a few a day, if you do 10% then you will have the same number rising to the top each day. And when relisting what you might find is that new listings you have added have split your listings up, so if you had issues 1-10 of a comic listed you may find another batch of listings in the middle, I always relist in batches so that I can get similar items together, so for example somebody looking at babywear will see several similar items in the hope that at least one will be what they are after.

This is just an idea so please dont shout at me.

    You have 3 unused shops

Looking quickly at your high volume comic types have you considered opening the following shops .

    Marvel Comics (1200 items approx)
    DC Comics (500 items approx)
    2000AD (250 items approx)

I think it would both help your stock control and increase the ease by which potential customers locate specific titles

yeah i could but there would be a bit off a cross over which could throw off some customers.
Some comic books half why through the print went from one brand to another so may confuse the customer a bit Also some comic do something called a cross over where a comic will feature say Batman (DC Comics) and Spider-man (marvel comics) not sure where is would put these?
It is a good idea but don't think i will do it.
After much debate about RUS and Auto Relist i think to as i go through the stock today i will start changing some to Auto Relist. If i start getting loads more sales then I will Buy you all a drink!!!
