Thread: Would like to sell for charity on ebid

Default Would like to sell for charity on ebid

    Hi
I am new to this forum and would like to try selling on ebid to raise funds for a specific charity.
Though I have had this account for quite a while I have only ever bought one item and have never sold.
I have sold for charity on another site, and would like to try doing so on ebid but do not know where to start.
Would be grateful for any assistance.

I would suggest that you start by joining in with YDC (see other threads on this board).

Otherwise, selling here involves waiting for buyers, listing at a start price you would be happy to accept & trying to promote for yourself (lots of advice on this about the boards

Hi Kniiting As Madelaine said the monthly charity auction YDC, your donation counts, would be a great place to start. You can suppoort this month's nominated charity or one of your own, or list for both as I have done. Put ydc* in the search box and you'll see some items already listed ready for the start on 24th July. More info here -

    Thank you both.

I will think about YDC as a starting point. I will spend a while finding my way around the site, read up on how ebid works, then maybe 'take the plunge'
I am slow though, so might be too late for this months YDC.

    Thank you very much

    Hi there knittingcrazi,
A very big welcome to you, and I must say that I admire your 'about me' page.
Lots of us here on eBid support various charities, be it at home or abroad.

Madelaine and Sucadot are quite right in suggesting YDC listing, and you are not too late at all.
We do not start it off until 24th - 28th of each month.

You do not have to support the nominated charity - list anything at all for your own particular cause.
YDC is great fun, and once you have joined in, you will be addicted!

If you need any help at all, do please ask, as we are always ready to help a fellow fundraiser.

    What they said.

Seriously, listing for charity is a great idea. When you go to the sell page there are numerous categories, charity is one of them, along with a number of subcategories under charity, just choose your subcat and list away.

Per shops, I have some charity items listed in my jewelry shop under a Charity/Cancer category, while I list monthly YDCs in another shop, while still other folks have whole shops devoted to charity items. However you decide to list is up to you, but bravo on your decision.

Oh and YDC is a lot of fun, if you decide to participate.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

and IF you list on YDC's monthly auctions you "should" make quite a few sales as very few items have no bids by the end of it and some items get quite a bidding war (which isn't that common on the site at the moment)

I opened a store for my theatre group on here. (well I got seller + lifetime for my clearouts, and I thought I would get a store up and running for my group as well, since I am the only group committee member who doesnt run screaming from the idea of running online auctions, so I made over a store for the South Devon Players.

I must say I have never got into the YDC thing - the special listing times and such always seem to be when I am not at home or have to do other things than auction listings (I also work, am doing postgrad research thesis, and other volunteering plus the theatre group is frantically busy).

Hi mjs1859, it would be great if you would join in with the YDC. There are a couple or more other new folk joining in this time for the 1st time - and you will find it a lot of fun

Here is a link to the last YDC which explains in the first post how to go about it.

    http://www.ebid.net/forums/showthrea...&highlight=ydc

If you put YDC in the forum search box (not the main eBid search box) you will find lots of info there too.

There are some items already listed for this month - there will be more - if you put YDC* in the main eBid Search box you will see those items there.

There are also a couple of threads running at the moment in forum about the YDC - the banter and fun has started already! It's a bit infectious...... !

Do ask if you get stuck and need help..... there is always someone ready to help if you need it.
