Yesterday I bought a large garden plant buggy. The price was too good to miss so I thought, what the heck, buy it and if it is too costly on shipping I will keep it. Though I do wish I had thought about getting it into the car as well. Luckily the weight was printed on the box, measured it up, online to see the price (10.8kg, 112cm x 65cm x 53cm). Firsy stop Parcel2go. I have used them to price heavier items and they have been OK. Luckily I was sat down when the quote came through, £70. First thought was that next year I would have to buy some plants and a large pot. Have another go, Googled large parcels and came up with ipostparcels part of UK Mail, had to put in a post code, found a buyer miles away to get an idea, price £9.99 + VAT. With the Post Office I can't post a pair of boots for that price.

So look out for more large and heavy items in my listing, I will be clearing some rubbish from the workshop and emptying the boot later.

Wow, they sound really reasonable. Do they offer services in the U.S.? Half the reason I don't list larger items is the prohibitive cost of mailing them via USPS, UPS or any other known courier.

I was the same, got stuck just using the Post Office, quick and easy, drop everything off in one go, but it then got to the stage where it was so expensive that it would be impossible to sell the stuff. Finally got round to sourcing carriers for stuff up to about 5kg and now found this for bigger stuff.


I did once list an exercise machine, had the weight on the box, 105kg. They were about £800 at the wholesaler, £1300 retail. Then they had an offer and reduced by £200. Like a fool I listed them, you could only buy 2, and I sold them both. Went to pick the 1st one up to sort out delivery, got one of the guys at the wholesaler to get it onto a truck and out to the car, and it would not fit in. Had to pull the box to pieces and take out the contents. Turned out not too bad though as I contacted the buyers and explained and ended up delivering them myself. Pity they were not local, different parts of the country a 4 hour drive and a 6 hour, spent about £100 in petrol, but made £200 for myself on delivery for a weekends work.
