Thread: Gazza - please comment on this issue

Exclamation Gazza - please comment on this issue

Whilst I understand and agree that eBid owners have the right to do almost anything they want with this site, it is incredibly annoying and demoralising to be told that users are not permitted to show links and/or images promoting offsite businesses and then get confronted with adverts for competitors that are not only permitted by eBid, but are actually shown by another of your own companies.

The particular ad I am taking issue with is this one:

When many eBid users are working very hard to promote both their own listings and the site in general it is perceived by many as a slap in the face to see officially permitted adverts which promote auctions on competitor sites.

If eBid is contractually obligated to accept any adverts regardless of the business shown, please tell us. If it is an issue out of eBid's control, please tell us.

It is often the lack of officially released information on eBid related issues that causes the most bad feeling and discontent.

Never see them, as I have an Ad Blocker running. I do agree though that inappropriate site advertising undermines everyone's efforts to promote eBid.

Maybe eBid could get one running on eBay.

The lack of a response from Ebid is ominous

    I think you are right.

The total lack of response, despite Gazza having been in the forums over the last couple of days, clearly shows that the status quo will not change. Clearly management are happy with the double standard and the message is coming over loud and clear as "Do as I say, not as I do."

It seriously annoys and frustrates me to see ads for eBay popping up on eBid through google ads and whatnot. They should be more careful and not advertise competitors on each others sites, it's ridiculous. But hey, we know eBay brags about having over 100mil listings, but let's face it, 90% of the listings are for rubbish a sane person would chuck in a skip anyway and never get bought!
“Doing business without proper advertising is like winking at a girl in the dark. You know what you are doing but nobody else does and the girl doesn't even know you're winking at her either."
