My apologies if I'm wrong......They don't want web addresses on the photo on the about me page, so I didn't imagine they wanted that sort of info anywhere on the page.

That's my point...where is it laid down what can and cannot appear on an About Me page? What admin don't want should be clearly set out. If they have rules on About Me pages then make them known.

It is defined what you cannot do in listings (Auction Posting Rules), it is defined what you cannot do in forum posts (Forum Rules), but About Me pages have no defined 'rules' that I am aware of. And as said, actually state can contain 'anything you want'.

Many people try to apply Auction Posting Rules site wide, but they are Auction Posting rules and so cannot be assumed to apply beyond the posting of auctions.

I agree it should be clarified. Yet when you click on an ABOUT ME page, at the top there is a place to report it, and one of the things they frown on is having a 'picture' with a web address.....so why is the picture different than the other page content.

Astral is right! I just plowed through all the FAQs and this is the only thing I could find for the All About Me page:

17) What is the My All About Me area for?

This is where you can upload your photo and information about yourself or your business or anything you want. These details will be shown on your "All About Me" page, buyers frequently view these pages to learn and to gain trust about the sellers they are buying from.

Please note that it definitely says: anything you want. It sounds to me as though there are NO restrictions on this page. All the warnings about other websites are on the FAQs for listing items.

I just looked at the pages for two other members, and I can't find an option to report the page anywhere. Where do you see it?

So the reasons for reporting the All About the Seller page are:

Copyright infringement images
Inappropriate Language in Text
Inappropriate Photo's (the apostrophe is their typo, not mine)
Other
Web address on Store Banner

Doesn't say anything about a web address in the text
Doesn't say a telephone number or email address is prohibited.
And neither of those are mentioned in the FAQs.
The only place I've heard about these not being allowed is here on the forums.

Have we all been misled? If these ARE prohibited, and have been all along, the FAQs and this dropdown list need to be corrected. Not updated. Corrected.

It might not say anything,
but phone numbers & ecommerce web addresses & links appear to be treated exactly the same on About Me Pages as they are in listings, & I'm pretty sure the automatic filter to disable email addresses operates on them as well.

At least now I know why so many new members list phone numbers, email addresses and links on their All About the Seller page. They read all the FAQs and help pages, follow all the instructions, and have no idea they are breaking some important rules unless they come to the forum and some kind person tells them.

I wonder how many new sellers got booted off and never knew why?
