    Default stamp album question

following more loft diggings I have found an old, rather large stamp album. Its well filled from all around the world, and a lot of the stamps in it appear to be very old - 19th and 20th century, about half and half.

I havent anywhere I can go to get this valued, None in town, no time to go off to one of the cities, and no busfare either, and waaay too many pages to photograph each one, unless ebids going to let me post about 200 photos for one listing when i get round to it in a few weeks. How can I post a rough idea for what the contents are and info collectors want in a concise manner, and what on earth do I start the listing at?

    (I am totally lost here!)

Wow, sounds like a real find for a stamp collector! No idea on value as I don't collect stamps, sorry, hopefully a stamp collector/seller or two will have some ideas.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

I'd say a fair representation of the stamps using the maximum allowable photos in a listing would be OK.
Any serious buyer could be emailed more photos if needed.
Know of any stamp collectors in your area, or perhaps clubs?
There are books/guides available from newsagents, or even some auction web sites.
However, this would involve a lot of research to find values.
Failing the above, I don't see any other option except to take it to a valuer.
Good luck & hope this helps.

Why not try taking it to a pawn shop, ask a ridiculous price for it, see what they offer (but refuse and thank them).

Use their offer price and double it then sell it at that price.

Try your local library who should have some Stanley Gibbons catalogues available, either to borrow or in the reference books section.
Also search for the nearest philatelic society or stamp club in your area - just google some town names with PS or stamp club after the town name and then give them a call. They should be very helpful and might come to you to value it for you.

You have a Brixham stamp club in your area with a telephone number available.

Red face Re: stamp album question

I would find the local philatelic society (Brixham) and take the album to their next meeting. There is bound to be someone who can help with advise. A local collector's fair should also have dealers who can help. The other option, is send it in the post to Warwick & Warwick the auctioneers (in Warwick) who normally do free valuations. The guy to contact is Joe Cottrial. I know him personally, so if you need any further details, please send me a personal message and I will try to help.

Put photographs on photobucket and give a link to the album there for as many pics free as you want.

Google around for similar sold items and see what they made.

    That's the easy version.

Nice bloke though he is , I'm not convinced that's sufficient reason to prefer it over the much more popular, and much slicker (as far as I can see) photobucket.
