Don't know about the rules Al but it's the person with the highest BID on the item who normally gets it. If I've read your question wrong, my apologies.

I think this is one for Vonz, AL. I read this as you are listing an item and whoever wins your item will donate the item to the Charity and you will also donate the money it makes. I am not sure this has been done before.

Maybe Vonz will be along and advise. Trish already knows about it and needs to check with the charity to see if they will allow this particular thing I have in mind. Maybe Trish can also verify if there would be any rule breaking, if we are asking too much of the YDC participants or if there are any other problems with this sort of listing.

But if I start it higher then $.99 I'm out of the competition correct?

Yep - doesn't matter though. Normally, whoever has the highest bid on any item wins it. That person can CHOOSE to donate the item to the charity but I would say it's their choice Al. But as my wee Gilly says, Vonz would probably advise better.

I'm referring to the competition itself. I don't want to participate in the competition end of the YDC (choosing the charity for the next YDC and the other things that go with it). I just want to list the item and if I read the rules correctly to be able to qualify for the competition you must start the item at $.99

You can start the auction at $.01 if you want to Al. The rules are that the highest starting bid is 0.99
