Thread: YDC Newby Questions???

  1. #1

    Default YDC Newby Questions???

Hey everyone I've pretty much gotten myself all setup on eBid now and I'd love to get involved in the next YDC (98 I think).

    So my questions/comments are...

    1. What are the chosen charities for YDC 98, so I can get my listings up and start marketing them?

    2. If the charity chosen is not worldwide and regional instead (seems like most folks involved are in the UK), can we pick a charity per region so one for the UK and one for US (and any other country for that matter)?

    3. Are the charity payments made automatically through eBid or do we need to make them on our own after the auction is complete?

    4. Does eBid or do any member(s) let the charity know that we are doing this, so they can help market YDC?

    Hello! Welcome to eBid!

    1. Not sure what the next chosen charity will be; that will be announced.

    2. You can choose to support the chosen charity or support one you select.

    3. The "payments are made in a variety of ways. Direct to a charity; by sending Paypal gift amount to seller of item (avoids fees); by using "Just Giving Links"; or other agreed upon payment methods between seller and buyer.

    4. The seller can choose to let the charity know; and some charities have gotten involved with the marketing, etc.

*Note: This is done separately from eBid. They provide the platform for eBid buyers and sellers to be involved with YDC.

ps YDC's run 24-28th each month (except December) - so plenty of time for you to get up & running!

Thanks everyone and I will definitely get involved! Used to do the same thing on eBay couple times a year, but couldn't get sellers there to get involved, so it's nice to be with like minded people

Congrats on your decision to get involved with YDC, got started myself last year and have enjoyed every minute of it.

Re: advertising for YDC, Kimbo has a page up and some of the rest of us use social networking as well to advertise YDC. Tweeted about it myself last time around and plan to do so this time, too.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

Thanks Suesjools I'll market via social networks as well. It'd be nice to try and get a charity aboard to actually help market for us.

Down the line, I'll talk to some charities and see if we can get them to put us in their marketing materials, as long as we plan far enough in advance. It's a win for everyone! The charity gets more money, our eStores get publicity, and eBid of course becomes an even bigger community.
