I don't know if you can change a shipping amount on Paypal as a buyer. I was referring to the buyer perhaps/maybe changing the amount on the invoice.

This is why eBid should STOP sending automated invoices with pay buttons. They should be removed so the buyer cannot pay right away.

I'm confused by this. I just checked our last five sales. The buyers all paid immediately by PayPal, we did not send an invoice, and there is no option to view the invoice in AAL. If eBid sends an automated invoice, wouldn't it be visible to the seller?

And I'm alarmed by the thought that the buyer can change amounts on the invoice if we do send one. That's never happened to us. I would consider that attempted fraud and report it to support.

Darn it, I keep saying automated invoice but it's not. *smack* it's a confirmation of sale that both buyer and seller receives in their email account. As I remember, the buyer receives payment buttons to pay directly to whichever online payment site is available and, if I recall correctly, the shipping totals are shown and can be changed?

The only way I know how the amounts can be tamper proof are to send an invoice to the buyer and tick the 2 options at the bottom (receive copy in your email) (secure final invoice totals) or such words.

None of my notifications of winning/buying an item have any buttons on them. All they do is direct me to the listing on eBid:

Congratulations, you've made a purchase using the eBid BuyNow feature. This is a notification of purchase email. This is not an invoice.

    Auction Title : *** *** **** **** *****. **** ** **** ****

What Now? Visit the After Auction Log (AAL) to progress.
See any immediate payment options available to you.
    Contact the seller.
Request an invoice for multiple purchases.

OK so how do you pay without receiving a seller's invoice?

Well... I usually ask for an invoice if one is not sent - but otherwise by following the link in the email back to the listing on eBid.

I thought of something I will need soon and decided to check this out. I confess I never paid a lot of attention to the process, just clicked buttons until I finished the transaction.

Clicked on the Buy Now button.
    Clicked on the confirmation popup.
That brought up the page with the option to pay by PayPal.
    The purchase price is frozen.
The shipping cost CAN BE CHANGED.
Honest buyers probably never have tried to change it, so didn't realize it was possible. I certainly never did.
This is an open invitation for buyers to try to take advantage of unwary sellers. This is NOT acceptable.
I think I need to add a note on our All About the Seller page that if the buyer changes the shipping charge, we will cancel the sale immediately.

If this is a bug, it needs to be fixed.
If this is deliberate, we need an explanation. What is the reason for this?

And the person I talked to at PayPal was telling the truth.

Thank you for checking it out. That is what I was trying to explain. eBid should stop sending automatic invoices eeeerrr I mean confirmations that take the buyer back to the selling page where they can change the shipping price and pay via a button without receiving a sellers' invoice. *hugs*

You can get round it by including the postage in the purchase price.

That won't work. The postage cost varies wildly depending on where the buyer lives.

Besides, I don't think we should have to "get round it", I think it should be fixed.
