I have used Western Union when buying direct from China. It is OK if you have done your research and know that the seller is genuine. It is a good start that you have spoken to them on the phone, if it was a landline, even better. I suppose with drop shipping it is unlikely to be a large amount in 1 day, but that leads to the question, why Western Union only if it is likely to be small amounts? I would do as much research as possible before commiting.

I am looking at dropshipping myself, but they are locally based, I will be able to meet them, check the quality of the produce etc. It can be a good way to build up listings and sales. My idea is to dropship a large number of items, with little profit, then purchase in bulk the best sellers from the supplier and handle shipping and the rest myself with enough of a profit to make it worthwhile.

What company requests Western Union payment only?? Credit Card is usually the way to go. I wouldn't touch that company with a 10 foot barge pole.

The reason Western Union became so popular with scammers is that it's a well-established, recognised brand that people (used to) trust. WU hasn't changed, only the perception. On it's own it's only a flag to do some checking, not a barrier, in my opinion.

I do not purchase from unknown sellers who will not let me use credit cards or PayPal. The reason is that paying by Western Union, money order, or personal check leaves me no recourse. If the merchandise doesn't arrive, if it is not as described, or if it is damaged, I may not get my money back.

Western Union is a safe, fast way to send money to a friend or relative in an emergency.

Agree 110%. I've used WU in the past but only with people I know and feel comfortable dealing with, doubt I'd want to use it with a complete stranger; IMHO most people are honest, but it only takes one bad apple...

I have never used WU as there was a lot of info around a wile ago as this was being used for money laundering, at least that was my impression (could be wrong of course!) and I have heard other people speak out against it.
I agree with the above, if they don't accept other forms of payment i would be worried. May be ok if you know who you are dealing with???
