Default Gazza is on the ball!

Gazza was busy today, getting all the recommended categories up to date! Good on you! Gotta love eBid...

While I don't want to rain on your parade, OP, some of the requests are dated 2010!

Typically, Gazza decides to do a category session without warning. Those who are lucky enough to be online at the time and are able to interact get their categories. Anyone who was out yesterday will have to whistle until the next, totally unpredictable, session.

Yes, he added lots yesterday, some of which I feel were sorely needed, but we really could use a more systematic approach.

I see what your saying, but as I'm new I just thought it was brilliant how they listen to their members.

Seems they only listen to some people. If they listened to me they would get rid of 90% of the Wristwatch categories instead of adding another 6 that will contain none or maybe one watch. Then I might think about listing on here again.

Yes but Gazza quoted here: 'can't delete categories, would corrupt the site.'

I wonder how it could 'corrupt' the site?

Categories can be merged into other but not deleted. Deleting a category would leave all it's content homeless and break many functions of the site.

So does mean you can merge the 137 categories into a simple ONE category - Wristwatches

Those 137 categories have an average of just 11 listing each
49 (36%) of the 137 have NO listings
    86 (63%) have less than 5 listings

But we are mostly talking about empty categories!

I am very impressed by the extent of the changes made. Thank you very much eBid and Gazza. This is a big step forward for this site and should help both sellers and buyers.

Some sellers will need to do some work to populate to new sub-categories but this effort will be well worthwhile.

Every time I log into the forums and click on 'New' I see a ton of Gazza responses to the category forums. It is very encouraging to see Gazza being active and responding to members right now. Well done!
