Heritage auctions found from the link above will do "free" coin/auction evaluation at the link below.

    https://coins.ha.com/common/acquisitions.php?target=auctionevaluation&ic=altho me4-auctionevaluation-091411

P.S. Would be safest to go directly to the Heritage Auction site, then to use link for actual submission.

Question: Who are the professional grading companies for the UK, or any other Nations?

Found an NGC International Grading Comparison Chart (see link below)

This was a neat, succinct link to an explaination on grades of coins, and the professional companies that grade the coins.

The above grading scale comparisons compliment grading guide descriptions at http://www.nostomania.com/servlets/c...insGradingMain

Demonstrates the grading precision of NGC, compared to grading standards of 7 countries, including the USA.

Try ANACS website, very trusted name and they occasionally run specials. the last one was $10.00 per coin for economy service. Be sure which ever one you choose that they are legitimate.

There are three grading companies that are regarded as the most trustworthy.

    ANACS
    NGC
    PCGS

Getting coins graded at any of these companies is not cheap, and only recommended for higher dollar specimens.

However, you can increase a coins value by getting it professionally graded and holdered.

The inexpensive grading companies are worth doing anything with

The big three are not cheap

They are only worthwhile for very high value coins

If I see a coin graded by anyone but "the big three", I treat the coin as if it were not in a slab. I would view it based on the pics provided to the best of my ability, as I'm not a professional grader. I sell coins like this; I do not grade them, nor view them as professionally graded. They are slabbed, and graded, but I do not mention the grade "assigned". I leave the grading to the potential buyer.

The big three are not cheap; and I agree that I would not use the service unless the coin was of significant value. I have received free grading of coins from NGC and PCGS at trade shows. With additional offers for reduced submission fees.
