    Question Liberty Half-Dollars

I was going through an old Sentry safe case yesterday and found a handful of Liberty half-dollars with dates in the early to late 1950's....are they worth anything? I haven't a clue!

Real 1950s US half dollars have Franklin on them - not Liberty

    You're right...not "Liberty"...Franklin. I pulled them out again and they have dates: 1: 1950; 1: 1952; 2: 1958; 1: 1959; 2: 1960; 1: 1961; 1: 1962; 1: 1963.

My Dad collects half dollars, not sure what they're worth, but I suspect those who know coins may have some ideas.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

They are worth about $12-$13 each. Just worth the weight in silver pretty much.

They are worth $12-13 at silver melt value, irregardless of condition.

If the condition is AU (About Uncirculated) to BU (Bright Uncirculated) ; they can fetch more. You need to research the dates also, some dates are in higher demand, and attract a better price.

If you start the bid low in here, chances are that is how it will sell. If you price them too high in here, they will sit like many other things. Best to do your homework.

P.S. If you try and sell them to a coin shop, etc. ; they will never pay melt value, I've seen some who will try to go $5 under melt, or more if they can get away with it.

By the Way, If they are in decent shape, do everything you can to protect them. Nothing will reduce the value as much as Scratches and rim damage
