Wyo, love the duck pix, we used to have ducks some years ago, they looked a lot like yours. Unfortunately, the neighbors at the time weren't too keen and snapping turtles got a number of them.

Hope you have better luck with yours. Oh and glad you got rain, it must be a relief.

Al, LOL! It must be the moisture - I'm all talked out for now.

I must learn how to resize the pictures. I cropped them before I uploaded them, and they weren't too bad, but I could do better.

Sue, I have learned so much about ducks this summer. I found out that only 2 species of domesticated ducks can fly - Gamebirds and Muscovies. Ducks are like dogs and are very attached to their keepers. The advice was to never try to raise 1 duck, get 2. I really wouldn't mind giving these ducks a home, but if I did they would live into old age with me because I wouldn't butcher them - I couldn't. That's not a bad thing, but I live in a farming community! What I've read really casts ducks as loyal animals. Hmmmmm! Duck lady, nah, I don't think so.

LOL duck lady! That's cool, didn't realize ducks were loyal that way, though ours always stayed in the yard and came up to be fed. They were white like the white ones in your photo, not sure what kind, the guy who sold them said domestic ducks, guess he didn't know either. Things were OK til they got older and went down to the pond for swimming, at which point the snapping turtles in the pond got them. I really dislike snapping turtles, my Dad tried to shoot one and he got it twice in the head and still it kept coming, they're scary beasties for sure.
