Morning/afternoon all. Absolutely adored the opening ceremonies, the only part of the Olympics I really enjoy watching. The torch lighting was inspired, involving all the bowls and all the countries, what an amazing display of unity! Watching all the countries parade in always brings tears to my eyes and also causes me to realize just how bad my knowledge of geography is. Guess I'm just an old softie, but I always feel sorry for the countries that don't win medals and root for them to win; this makes me a bit unpopular with my neighbors, but they think I'm a crazy cat lady anyhow, so no real harm done.

Aw thanks, you're too kind Sister Sal. I'm hanging in there, Mom is getting better every day, knock wood, hope she can come home soon and we can all go to NY while there's still a little summer left to be had.

Sounds like you had fun at the wedding, the pix were great. It's so nice to see a happy bride and groom nowadays, almost makes me wish for such things myself, though I have a funny feeling I'd be a right mess at it.

hi all
sorry, not been around much lately but as you can imagine, it´s been a bit loony here over the last 7 or 8 days or is it more !!
lost the plot a bit i think, it´s been very stressful for everyone here
there were over a 1000 firemen here at one time from all over the country. very bad.
thankfully it´s over now, but we lost the small house which we were renting in the countryside and as i´ve already said on the other thread, the portuguese government offer compensation but, anyone whose ever been here will verify, everything takes forever
I THINK I NEED A LARGE JACK DANIELS IF ANYONES BUYING LOL.....ROY

Yes wedding day was grand but with my family clouds are never far away, there were literally only 2 people from my family and a distant Uncle attended which upset my brother a lot.
Sadly, major world war 3 broke out 2 days later with people being ostracised etc Im ususally the peacemaker in the family but its very hard work. I sometimes wonder why I bother lol
Roy so glad to hear from you, thats dreadful what you have been through! I hope you enjoyed Sues generous offerings
