Thread: Cocktails!!! and Music

    Good morning!
Glad to hear from you Pos, I so empathise with you re your sleeping patterns.
I'm up and down all hours of the night and early mornings. I can be found making a cup of tea or ovaltine anytime from 5.am. I usually retire around 11pm, wake around 2.am for a visit to the bathroom, can't get back to sleep for ages. Give up and go downstairs to make a drink. I go back to bed, do a sudoku to try and tire myself out, then toss and turn until I get up again anytime around 7am. Trouble is, I can't sleep during the day, unless I'm ill, so getting by on very little sleep.

Hope your CTS improves, Lucia also has to wear a splint for her CTS, hope that she will be able to cope OK when her baby arrives in mid June. We are both so sad that she will not be able to have her mum with her, I could have helped her so much especially as she is a first time mum-to-be.
Thanks for the home delivery advice, wish me luck!

BTW, I didn't know what a budgie smuggler was, so googled it.
LOL!!! Nearly choked on my breakfast when I saw this.......

Wyo, your masks are so pretty and very well made. Your Janome certainly is behaving well for you in her new place!
Oh, that King Tut - so funny! I burst into laughter when the mummy came out playing the sax

Well, I had better press on. I have some melts to make and need to do a stocktake on which fragrance oils to re-order with the new batch of wax. I may take the holiday notice off my shops here. I have been taking off all items that will not go through the slot in the postbox, as we cannot go into the post office. Plus amending postage that I never got around to.... hope my family don't all decide to phone today. I almost lost my voice a couple of days ago with chatting. Saw Dominic and the girls on Skype yesterday - the little ones were so excited to see me and their grandad - I do so miss my family so much.....

Keep safe everyone, and books - come on out of hiding, we need to know that you are safe and well!

Shes I forgot to tell you about my son. He had a third surgery on his arm been about a month now, and he got a metal support for physical therapy, he thinks it's pretty cool. Got the stitches out April 1st. Then he had to have a root canal and dislocated a toe. All of this in 2 months. since he's not working, he isn't shaving (sensitive skin) and his wife claims to have found his gray hair.

POS - LOL! I had to look up posie pouches and budgie smugglers. I enjoy sewing and I guess I can claim designing too now.

Speaking of my son, his BFF and he used to play King Tut over and over again. I talked to his BFF and he was down in the dumps (as my mother used to say), to I sent him a link to King Tut. He said he was surprised I didn't hate it considering how many times it was played on our stereo by the 2 boys.

We've had a couple of nice warm days this week. My greeting for today is May at last, May at last, May at last (apologies to MLK). Happy May Day everyone!

You guys remember Sandy who did the counted cross stitch things? I can't remember her screen name. I'll think of it in a couple of hours or not. Anyway someone broke into her house this morning and stole their TV and trashed the living room. It was about 6 am. Scary!

joke - We've switched places. Now days the parents are sneaking out and the kids are grounding them.

I looked it up - hopeful2 was her ebid screen name.

Hi Pos like you I keep popping in and out of forums, not been on for the past week, not felt like doing much at all, and when I sit down to have a drink I just fall asleep.

Yes remember the Kate Bush performance of Babushska used take off of the dance routine but the arthritic knees have put paid to that now, I might be able to get down but not up, got stuck for a name when I signed up couldn't decide between Bodybags which had been my nickname where I used to work or Grumpy Old Woman but as Babushska meant Old Woman decided on that.👩🏻*🦳👩🏻*🦳👩🏻*🦳

This is my before picture, I wasn't too enthusiastic about the finished product. Yesterday I went in search of some trim laces for face masks and was hit by a very good fix. Here is the after picture.

Thursday was a very windy day here and I was making supper and putting some dishes away and I noticed a bunch of dirt in a pan that was sitting in the dish rack in front of my north window. The window was open just a crack in one corner. That meant it wasn't sitting straight. I opened it and got it correctly closed, but it made me wonder if it had been that way all Winter. I get lots of cool air in the house in the summer through that window, but the wind blows from the north a lot in the Winter. My heating bills were not outrageous this Winter, so what?

I see Little Richard has passed at 87. One of my favorite early on rockers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPKDjqDflBc

I am working on a pair of flannel PJ's, just have finish the sleeves and bottom hem. I probably won't be able to wear them til October or November, but at least they will be in the drawer and not sitting out anymore. I am also fighting the urge to go to Cheyenne, there is a sewing and vacuum store going out of business and they claim 70% off of everything. (muttering to myself, "I don't need anything there").

    Y'all take care.

Hi folks don't worry i'm still here !!

Been a bit busy this last week keeping our son Ben busy helping me in the garden and baking with his mum. Also had to start back at work , evenings only after store has closed (B&Q). So any spare time I have been busy listing, and don't tell Sgt Cornish posting stuff off that I have sold.

Anyhow glad to see that you are all doing reasonably well in these trying times. As they say stay home keep safe.
Here are a few tunes to help relieve the boredom.

Let's start things up with a bit of Little Richard, like Wyco I was very sad to hear of his passing, so many great tracks of his to choose, but this one is my favourite.

    Little Richard

    Richie Valens

    Chris Montez

    Eddie Cochran

    Dion

    Sam Cooke

    Jerry Lee Lewis

    Bobby Day

    Chuck Berry

    Coasters

    Kingsmen

    Wilson Pickett

    Greetings from the Bear

    Great selection of choons, Books!

    Wyo, you are so talented!

Thank you all for keeping this thread alive with your input.

I keep meaning to write in here but usually end up forgetting.
I have made posts in the past and forgot to press send.

Only one thing of note happened this week, I was not invited to the VE day celebrations that the neighbours had organised.
I was in my garden and could hear loud distorted music playing, so I got my walking stick out and hobbled along the path to the car park and there they were, all sat in front of their own houses with tables of food and drink! I just shrugged my shoulders and went back home. A minute later a neighbour was outside the front door shouting my name. Don't know why she didn't use the knocker, maybe she thought it was covered in Covid!
She said, 'would you like to come and join us'
I said, 'thanks for the late invite, but I only came outside to complain about the horrible distorted loud music'.
Ah, OK, well if you change your mind....'
It wasn't long after that the volume was lowered

It appeares that my next door neighbour didn't get an invite either. he said it was because we might liven things up too much for them, LOL!!!
    He knows me too well.
Anyway, a party is no good without a kitchen..

    Cheers and stay safe,

    Hi everyone,
great to hear that you are all keeping yourselves busy and safe from the dreaded lurgy.

Babushka - so glad you decided upon Babushka instead of bodybags - it's a lovely name, and far better than grumpy old woman!

Wyo, oh - your work is just exquisite - and what a difference a bit of lace makes! Ignore your mutterings of "I don't need anything there" - go to Cheyenne gal and grab yourself some bargains at 70% off!

Your Maj, I do hope that you and Phillpot are enjoying your prolonged stay at the castle, hope Phillpot is behaving himself and takes his daily exercise walking the Corgis instead of driving - lol!

Glad to hear from you books, and Hey! What brilliant choons! Keep 'em coming!
Sounds like you are quite busy with entertaining Ben with gardening, cooking and also yourself working at B&Q. Jolly well done I say!

Pos, our cul de sac street never even bothered to acknowledge VE day - total silence.
The rotten miserable stuck up buggers cannot even lower themselves to come out and clap/cheer for our NHS nurses and doctors, carers, key workers on Thursdays. Most we have ever had is four lots of cheerers. Absolutely totally disgraceful. Sometimes I wish I was back up north where folk are much friendlier.

    Can I hear music?
