    Yoo-hoo! I survived the partying!

Thanks Posbear - loved the birthday song, drinks and Mr Connery in his kilt .... what more could a gal ask for?!
I really loved Mumford and Co. in your post #19851- what a hoot! Was that our Shesa with her long blonde hair playing the accordion, lol!
Can't wait to see Mumford on Thursday - bring it on!

Hope everyone is keeping OK, and the weather is not too bad in everyone's neck of the woods.
It's been a horrible day here, miserable, rainy and dark - it gives me a headache -

    Greetings,

Trish, I am glad that you had a good time with your family.

A good time can be measured by the size of a hangover

Weather here?, well we've been issued with a yellow warning of strong wind.

I am off to cross beans off today's menu

Stay safe and warm, specially Meebo

Morning all, been a bit busy over here and missed Your birthday Trish, so sorry about that. It sounds as though you had a good day ! I know you will enjoy the Mumfords and that video that Pos posted was one of their best I have seen.

No songs today just a bit of comedy to cheer up these dull winter days.

Sorry Trish, I too missed your birthday. Seems I have a talent for keeping myself busy, I've reached a point that I don't get on the computer everyday as it seems I spend all day once I am on. Glad you had a good one.

Yesterday I went to the big city as snow and cold temperatures are predicted for the next week and Miss Sadie is almost to the bottom of the kibble bag. She has the strangest eating habits. I fill her dish in the morning and sometimes in the evening it's still full, other times not. For one thing I think she forgets when she is playing with Atlas. Again it's the same thing at night, sometimes empty in the morning, sometimes not. She weighed in at 41.6 pounds, 18.86 kg. Slightly heavy, but the Vet just said to watch her fat intake dieting not necessary at this time. Our vet is leaving, today is her last day. I shall miss her.

The Pastor and his family prepared and delivered Thanksgiving dinner to people in the community that were alone. Ham, turkey, stuffing (my favorite), mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, beans, cranberry sauce, & pumpkin pie with whipped cream. Liz brought me some apple pie the next day and Buddy's Mom left more pumpkin pie out for me. They were generous also, I got 2 meals out of it.

My new sewing machine. The first thing I made was a cover for it so it doesn't get all dusty. Last night I cut out some turtle pin cushions. I bought some ground walnut shells to put in them for weight, so I had to make a little holder for that.

I guess that is all I know, I hope everyone is doing well!!!

I do like the look of the machine. Will you be quilting with it? It looks like it has an extra long arm. Happy sewing.

    Hey, all!

Trish - Happy belated birthday!! I watched a concert last night (in London even!) and had planned to post a few choons from it so I'll dedicate them to the Birthday Girl as I know you will love the "eye candy"! LOL!!

My yard light attracts all kinds of moths (the Luna is my favorite!) but I watch them from my porch where I'm in the dark so I don't get bombarded! LOL!!

NO - my helper is not good looking (he looks like a little elf without the pointed ears - lol!) and he IS married - not that it would matter to me because I'm not looking, not to mention that his wife is a LOT bigger than me. LOL!! She is very nice too but I have a feeling she could be "not nice" if need be. He's just a good worker, wide variety of skills and best of all, we communicate well. He will be over tomorrow to finish up some projects that got interrupted due to all the rain and a couple other odds and ends. The next major project will be to put together an 18' x 20' carport for my truck but not until another friend comes and takes down a 100+ ft tree that is in the way. Best part of all - the one who should have done all this work is paying for it - lol!!!

The light that you have is probably a Himalayan Salt lamp - just forwarded an article about them this morning to Frank - ONLY a friend - 77 years old, ex-truck driver and has a 1977 Harley I'm hoping to get my picture taken on one of these days His health is poor and he doesn't get out much so we talk on the phone and e-mail. He sent me a friend request on FB because he thought I looked familiar and I thought he did too - turns out he lived for 13 years up behind the Biker Bar I go to, so most likely we had seen each other there. https://www.naturalnews.com/2018-11-...salt-lamp.html

It sounds like you had a rip-roaring birthday celebration! So nice that you could be with all the family - even if you all did "go to the dogs"!

Pos - Somehow I missed your post #19851 but I'm glad Trish mentioned it - love that hand clapping, foot stomping music! And no, it wasn't me playing the accordion - my mom had one but I never learned how. I don't really recall Mumford and Co. but if that's the kind of music they play, I'll have to go look them up. Here's some of my favorite old (like 50+ years ago old) train songs:

Books - thanks for the laughs!! Used to watch Monty Python all the time but I haven't seen him on TV for quite a while. The Goodies were hilarious! Reminded me of the 3 Stooges movies I loved when I was a kid.

WYO - glad to hear you are keeping busy - how much snow you got up there gal? We actually had snow here last week - sure am NOT looking forward to real winter when it gets here (Jan/Feb). So Miss Sadie is getting fat? Jake is too - I've been giving him less dog food and giving him treats of apples and carrots to make up for less food. It sounds like you had a good Thanksgiving - did all that good food make you fat? Just kidding - lol!!

LOVE your new sewing machine!! That wide arm is nice - especially with the measuring guides. My pile of mending and sewing projects is growing - maybe I'll do some sewing this winter. It's been years since I've had it out.

Not a lot going on around here except rain and cold. We've had some warm days but it's rained then too. I sure will be glad when Mercury quits it's retrograde cycling! New alternator, battery and belt for the truck Phone has been out 4 times - twice due to the road grader and twice due to the log trucks. Had to have my internet satellite repaired and the microwave is still working but needs replaced - the turn thingy is wearing out. Seems every time I turn around these days something is breaking down.

My arm IS doing better. Pain in the morning from not moving during the night and very little actual nerve pain. Most all the pain now is due to working those unused muscles but I'm still kind of taking things easy because it takes a full year for that graft to be completed and I've gone on with this too long to mess it up now.

Time for my lunch break and then out to feed if it isn't raining. Have 7 shipping labels to do this afternoon - unfortunately NOT sales - and must make time for a nap, as I've been up since the wee hours again.

    Y'all take care!!

    HUGS! Shes

My friend Gary is really tickled about the new sewing machine, he says he is glad to see me spending money on myself for a change. Shesa - that table moves off very easily and it can be an open arm machine quickly. Meebo - it is a Janome and it has the software and features for quilting and embroidering. We'll see what Carol gets done. So far I've read the instructions for attaching the embroidery attachment, I have thread and needles. Janome used to be known as Elna. I also have an Elna I bought new around 1977 and I know it has sewn up at least 50 cowboy shirts along with 80% of my wardrobe and some fun costumes. Bill, his brother, brother-in-law, my Dad and my son didn't know what a manufactured shirt was for many years. Too bad I don't care about sewing. My friend Lorraine, who makes beautiful quilts, says snow days are sew days and has a coffee mug that say "The weather outside is frightful and the fabric is so delightful, let us sew, let us sew, let us sew". I have a sweatshirt that says 'Woman cannot live by sewing alone, she needs a dog too".

When I let Sadie out this morning it was colder than a witches heart. The wind was blowing - it was 7 am. It is a bit warmer now and the skiff of snow is almost gone. It is muddy enough, I caught Sadie digging at the old stump in the yard and I yelled at her. She wasn't happy with me for a bit. There are Winter storm advisories and warnings out for mostly places to the North and East until tomorrow night, so I guess we'll see. Hope I can go bowling.

    Stay Warm, Y'all.

The death has been announced of Roy Bailey MBE (he returned it in 2006), folk singer and academic. He sang many songs of political and social dissent and toured extensively in Britain, Europe and USA. Here are links to his obituary https://www.theguardian.com/music/20...ailey-obituary

    Greetings

WYO, good to see you buying something nice for yourself, I hope that it brings you lots of enjoyment.
i am fascinated by the mechanisms inside sewing machines and now that they have computer programming...WOW!
When I was an apprentice car mechanic back in the 1960s in Liverpool, the shop next door to the garage was a sewing machine shop.
The owner would get his car serviced by me and as usual we'd get to have a chat, one day I had to go and report something about his car to him, so off I went to his shop.
It was the first time I'd been in there, It was empty of people but full of machines, I called his name and he called me through to his workshop, wow, I had no idea that the workings of the machines were so intricate.
He was busy converting the old Singer table machines to portables, he'd simply remove them from the table and fit a small base to the machine, no electrics involved because they were treddle operated.
He then put new tops on the old machine legs and sell them as....tables for resting your portable sewing machine on! That's business!
I researched online to see if I could find anyrhing about him, I was amazed to find an advert in a 1964 issue of a Liverpool newspaper.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and see the Roy Aitken advert.
    https://newspaperarchive.com/liverpo...-08-1964-p-14/

I then researched a bit more and found Roy Aitken branded machines for sale on the web!
I don't know if it is the same Roy Aitken, but what a coincidence that it has the type of base that I remember him fitting, although the one illustrated is electric, I guess he could have progressesd .

Isn't it strange how I can recall events 50+ years ago, but I still can't rember what I just went into the kitchen for

SHESA, Thank you, I can't beleave what you linked me to!
I loved those videos linked to the songs, they are now saved and will be watched again.
Good to hear that you are on the mend and keeping busy.

MEEBO, how about a choon from you

    TONY,
    Thanks for dropping by,
I hadn't heard of Roy Bailey but glad that you shared him with us.
Our departed friend Old would have loved those songs.
I rember the Aberfan incident, I watched Cliff Michelmore reporting from the site and he was crying whilst watching people trying to dig those poor children out.
Please call back again with more choons

    TRISH,
Are you over your hangover yet?

    BOOKS
Thanks for the laugh, much needed here

Wow, can't believe I've made such a long post!

Better find a choon and sign off..

Seeing that it was St Andrew's day on 30th Nov I'll give you a Scot Rock choon..

    Cheers ma'dears
