Thread: Cocktails!!! and Music

  1. #19741

    Default Re: Cocktails!!! and Music

Fog this morning, it's been cooler all week here. It is Frontier Days. Today will be the last rodeo.

I am thrilled, I think Sadie is definitely my dog now. Of course, you realize I don't care for her. (sarcasm)

Not much going on here, been working on home improvement. I went down to the park this week. but it was so wet down there all I could do was bring the trash home to be picked up by - Coyote Sanitation and Removals. How's that for a business name? Liz came for coffee on Wednesday and we watched "Sunset" with Bruce Willis (Tom Mix) and James Garner (Wyatt Earp) which prompted me to finish reading "I Married Wyatt Earp" by Josie Earp. Wyatt really did know William S. Hart and Tom Mix (American cowboy movie stars in the 20's). Wyatt Earp died in January, 1929. Josie's version of the OK corral story was different than the legend that has grown out of it. We also had macaroni salad and Pimms. PARTY!

Last year I purchased an e-book for training Sadie and downloaded it onto my Kindle. I went through the chapters up to 6 months and since she was only 4 months I put it aside for a short time. When I picked it up again, it was gone. I don't know why it is gone or where it went, but it doesn't respond to my efforts. It wasn't expensive, so I repurchased it in paperback. At least I will know where it is. We've got some catching up to do. Sadie is back to digging holes so I've got to get busy. Sadie and Atlas have made up. Atlas still won't come over to our yard. My mother used to sing a song about I don't wanna play in your yard, I don't like you any more. You'll be sorry when you see me, sliding our cellar door.

Old - I keep forgetting to tell you Sadie wasn't actually pink, I think that was a reflection from my carpet (burgundy). She was muddy again this morning I am in for more of that with fall coming soon. They have been taking the kids (kindergarten?) to school this week. Somebody said it is called Jump Start. What?

    Everyone have a great week!!!

I goggled it and found it - it was recorded by Peggy Lee - 1958 original 1894

    G'day all

Shesa - all the vids worked well & that drone footage is great. What a magic place for concerts, although, I don't think I'd stick around during lightning
I was aware of Red Rocks, as I saw, on DVD, a concert with the Moody Blues there! Check it out if you can find it - what a brilliant show it was.
Glad to hear the neck is coming along.
I'll bet your Mom was caught up in the Hawaiian music craze during the 50's? That's when lap steel had a huge following.
Swapping to accordion would have taken her down a different road I guess.

Wyo - yes I'd hoped the pink was just a trick of the light. Don't know why anybody would want to :holler down a rain barrel"
    BTW - what's a rain barrel

Brody's not all sweetness & light - here's her first public tantrum in the local park - apparently, she didn't want to walk any more & expected to get carried!
Well she is fast approaching the terrible 2's.

    Hello everyone!

Well we actually managed to get some rain last weekend, didn't last long though and we are back on the (very) hot dry days. Suffolk sure is hot!
The grass did green up, but it's parched again. We certainly can't complain about summer this year!

My only 'bugbear' (pun intended!) are the pesky flies, mozzies, flying ants and beetles, and tons of wasps that make sitting outdoors very unpleasant.
I'm forever scratching my mozzie bites, (I actually have one in my groin area - most embarrassing!)
They drive me nuts, even though I'm covered in Skin So Soft and burn citronella. They are after my rich blood, the polycythemia makes my blood good and filling for them!

Poor JR hates wasps - he drinks red wine and they love that - trouble is he waves his arms and legs about like a windmill when they attack him!
So funny (to me!), but he spills his drink in the process - his top and shorts are now soaking in stain remover from todays spillage.

We have had visitors these last two weekends, and this weekend we have more celebrations. It's Dominic and Debbies birthdays and our wedding anniversary.
I think I'm getting bored of barbecues now - did I really say that???!!! Shame on me! The winters are long and hard and sooo depressing.

Old - oh what great pics of young Brody, she is such a little darling - tantrums or not! We have the same tantrum problem with little Ava, she is such a drama queen.
Just like her grandad - lol! Treasure every moment I say, kiddies grow up so fast - you can always look back and remember all those funny (and NOT so funny!) episodes in their progression through life.

'ehy up booksie, bah gum theyt lookin' grand in tha' kilt, couldn't concentrate on the choons for ogling! Imagination ran wild!
(Dashes off for a cold shower!) Damn good choons as usual, more please!

Shes, Lucia's little mamma Pekin bantam managed to succesfully hatch out 4 little chicks - here they are!

The drone pics of Red Rocks are just awesome - but like Old says, wouldn't stick around for the lightening show!
Hope your neck healing process is coming along nicely. Take it easy - step by step is best.

Wyo, loved all the pics of the doggies, and .... hey, you little cowgirl you! LOVED the blue jeans and fancy boots ... yeehaw!
I wish I had a little helper to pull weeds - Sadie sure is one smart gal! Don't forget to share your next cream can supper - you know my begging bowl is always at the ready!

Right, time for drinks -look what I have found! Whoo Hoo !

then you can share my Beef Massaman curry - it really is deelish!

As for a choon, seeing as all the flowers in my lawns have died - including the Daisies ... here y'are!

    Hey all

Checking in here first as usual, to see when the last time I was that I checked the forums - lol! I've been doing a bit of reposting expired listings but am really wanting to add some stores and revamp everything in the next few months. Since I'll be going to town for physical therapy the next few weeks, I'm going to focus on local sales of shoes, clothing and accessories for "back to school" time using FB. I'll also put a little "plug" in each album for my eBid stores here.

Wyo - I think "Coyote Sanitation and Removal" has been here!! For the first time that I can remember, I have rabbits in my yard! That's always a good sign that there are no coyotes in the area. Loved hearing about Wyatt Earp - reminded me of a visit to the OK Corral in Tombstone when I lived in AZ. I can't remember what their "take" on the history was but I remember hearing somewhere that the common story is not accurate. It was nice that Liz came over and "partied" with you I too like to have hard copy reference books - most of my research is online but one never knows when online might not be available for what ever reason. Just in case Sadie may have deleted your Kindle version, you might want to put the paperback up on a very high shelf - LOL!!! I'm glad she and Atlas made up My grandma taught me the Rain Barrel song - a nice memory.

Old - I'm glad you were able to see the vids! The one with the drone footage was amazing - although I got a wee bit dizzy watching it - lol! The accordion was mom's first musical instrument, she also played piano. For what ever reason, my grandmother was always pushing my mom to take lessons of some sort. I inherited her love of music but none of her talent Loved little Brody's temper tantrum - my boys tried that and I just laughed at them. Didn't have a video camera back then or I'd have some good "blackmail" material - LOL!

Trish - sounds like you need a good bug zapper - sit back and relax while you enjoy the "entertainment" of watching all the bugs get fried! A very highly recommended form of "Redneck Entertainment" - LOL!! I imagine a constant stream of company could get tedious after a while but enjoy them while you can. I've been enjoying a quiet, drama free life and it has been nice! The baby chicks are adorable!! 4 is a nice number - not too many for mama to look after properly. I'll pass on the breakfast - the smell of bacon cooking in the morning nauseates me - doesn't bother me later on in the day though, guess I'm just an odd duck.

I'm off to check forums and get busy on housework today.

    Y'all take care!!
    Shes

    Happy Monday all.

Yes well we're in the middle of a bad drought down here & I haven't had any decent rain to speak of in quite a while.
Luckily for me, I still have good tank supplies left & only use that for the garden gemz.
Our Government yesterday released an assistance package for our farmers, to help them make it through some tough times.
I suppose, as usual, when the drought ends, it'll be with floods! BTW & ATM, the suicide rate amongst our farmers, is double the national average.
Things are "tough in the bush", as we say.

Trish - hope you all have top celebrations, & I loved those chicks 'n jungle juice bowl (hope it had a bottle of Bundy init?
But what a rotter you are! Now my keyboard is all covered in drool after that full English (which I'm not allowed)
To get rid of bugs at a BBQ, we used to have a couple of galvanised buckets of slowly burning cow dung. Just stand in the smoke & Bob's ya uncle - NO bugs!

Hey Shesa - glad to hear things are going well & you can finally sort out the stores. I seem to recall you saying that was an aroundtoit job. Hope the neck is still improving.

Okey Dokey here's the rum for that jungle juice - plus a few random choons! Enjoy.

Morning everyone, hope it's not too hot for you. I have to say it's been just a tad warm for me especially at work, we wear nylon polo shirts with a nylon Hi-viz vest on top !!!

Happy anniversary Trish hope you celebrate in style.

I love a bar-b-q but no one else in the family are much bothered, though I did do a couple of steaks last night (indoors) and they went down a treat. Old, i've not heard that version of the Eric Bogle Aussie barbeque song before though I have several versions sung by Eric on various CDs. For a Scot he's a damn fine Australian.

Not heard that searchers version of Love Potion No.9 for years, it's easy to forget how good they were.

So if it's not too early i'll leave a few tunes to listen to later.

Oh good grief, I keep forgetting Old asked what is a rain barrel ?

A rain barrel was an old wooden barrel - like a whiskey barrel that people put in their yards to catch rain in years ago. The water was used mostly for washing. Supposedly a treat to have "soft" rain water to wash your hair. I have no idea why you would holler down it.

    G'day all

Thanks Wyo - I guess they'd be popular in the old days, seeing as how you'd have to empty the whiskey out of them first! hic hic

Great choons Booksie! - I can sympathise with you in the hot weather. Wearing cotton is the way to go (if possible)
I've seen Eric in concert several times & he's a wonderful entertainer - not to mention muso & poet. He has you laughing & crying during one of his shows.
He calls himself a "Scoaussie" (Scotch Aussie) & we are certainly lucky he chose to live here.

Well here I go again with another of my Reso geetar covers! Hope you enjoy it.
This one is "Ashokan Farewell" the theme song used in the TV miniseries by Ken Burns on the American Civil War, which first aired in 1990.
